Humphrey Lyttelton tour ends

Post by spot »

As the trumpeter of time hits the final high C of destiny and the show assistant gives him a welcome hand off the stage, it's the end of the show. An unexpected combination of talents was Humph. Forty years broadcasting The Best of Jazz, thirty six years delivering inspiring innuendo on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, a lifetime playing jazz trumpet from recording with Sidney Bechet in the 1940s to Radiohead in 2001. One hopes he's off helping Samantha improve her embouchure.

What a remarkable musician 'Humph' was, but he did very well didn't he? Unfortunately we are all mortal and we cannot live forever - the passing of another era I think. 'Humph' you will be greatly missed, so thank goodness for our recording industry, so people can still listen to your brilliance. :-6
