Cute pup.
I must say though - I am rather flabergasted that it was removed from the litter before it was even fully weaned. And disappointed that it will miss out on learning so very many life lessons from both it's mother and it's litter mates.

I'm going to assume you haven't had much to do with working dogs? I don't want it learning anything from a working dog kennel. And there is no set time a dog is taken away from it's litter, once it's weaned it's ready to go .....................fact is, I want it as a pet not a working dog . It is already toilet trained, it is a healthy happy puppy. It is imperitive to get it away from any contact of other working dogs in this situation.
Actually I'll add to this Cad another working dog we got extremely young (slept two nights on my chest.) is the best dog we've ever had, in fact she just earlier killed a snake for me. She has learnt our ways not the breed ways. this keeps her safe from farmers guns.
So all's good:D
I have had working dogs for the last 30 years. From working lines. With working parents. As a matter of fact - I have a titled herding dog sleeping not 2 feet from me. In my apartment.
But you go on and do what you're doing. I know from past experience that there is no sense in trying to tell you otherwise.

i have an english springer spaniel and i live in a small flat. i know its not the place for a dog of this breed and yes i do feel guilty.
he gets loads of excercise, which does me good too, as i live on my own and half the time i wouldnt bother going out.
he was my partners dog and is all i have left of my partner now, another bad reason for not giving him up............. but he is used to living like this and dosnt know any different.
he didnt come from a working family so has no inborn working notions, though he is very quick to learn and im no dog trainer !!
he seems content enough with his life and i spend a lot of weekends with my family and thats when he gets his freedom...............
ps,
sorry about this but fuzzy butt was my cats name..................

Having a 'herding dog' (not familiar with that terminology for a working dog) in an apartment ? You see that to me is cruel unless it's on it's last legs.
SO you've worked with these dogs and bred them?
I thought you had sheep? Don't your dogs HERD your sheep? In the U.S. (and most of Europe) dogs that herd sheep are called Herding dogs and dogs that work - ie. Police dogs, guard dogs and rescue dogs are called Working dogs.
Here are some links regarding the importance of being with the mother and litter until the age of at least 7 weeks.

I will also add that it is illegal to sell a puppy under the age of 8 weeks in the U.S.
Yes. I have had herding and working dogs in my house since I was a child. All of them were fully capable of doing the work they were intended to do and the herding dogs had all done herding during their lifetime.
No. I don't breed and haven't in the past. There is soo much more to breeding then putting two dogs together and having a litter of puppies. At this point in my life, I don't have the time, money or room to ethically breed a litter of puppies.
As for my "poor dog" living in my apartment. I'll tell him how abused he is when he wakes up from his nap on my bed.
