Picasso art stolen from gallery

Post by Chezzie »

Two Pablo Picasso paintings worth millions of Euros have been stolen from a Swiss exhibition, police have said.

The paintings were stolen on Wednesday evening after closing time at the show of the artist's work in the small town of Pfaeffikon, near Zurich.

The oil paintings, Head of Horse and Glass and Pitcher, were on loan from the Sprengel Museum in Germany.

The museum declined to disclose the artworks' exact value, while police are still looking for the thieves.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that the thieves locked themselves in the building after closing time, triggering an alarm as they were leaving.

The Swiss exhibition consists entirely of works on loan and includes 20 original Picasso paintings.

The Sprengel has promised a reward to anyone who has any information which may help recover the paintings.
