Bull Rider Safety Gear Mandatory?

Apparently some people want to make it mandatory for bull riders to wear safety gear. I think that's just dumb. If bull riders want to risk their own life for a competition, that's on them. Nothing restricts those that wish to wear a helmet from doing so.

Here's a video for those that want to see some bull riding. Note that some wear safety gear and some don't, as they choose.

That's fair. Pros can spend their money on headgear or hospitals, their choice.

I like the response of one of our friends who did the whole rodeo thing when he was younger:

"what are they gonna do next, make 'em wear skirts?"

but, I agree with you, the decision about personal safety should be made by the individual. :-6
