A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.

I also really like your new avatar picture. Not as well as your real picture though. ;)

So, speaking of dogs.

My 4 year old son has been begging me for a puppy. Problem is I work a lot, and have a long drive, so our time at home is slim. So here's the thing - isn't that sort of unfair to the potential pet? I mean, if I can't devote enough time to him, should I even attempt to get one?

Yes, it would be unfair to a puppy. But an older, less active dog might be an option.

Four is pretty young to have a pet in my opinion. I would wait until he's a bit older and can actually interact with a dog. And also to help care for it. Remember if you get one now, it will essentially be *your* dog and you'll be responsible for all the dog's feeding, grooming, walking, playing and cleaning up after. That may not be something you want to take on right now.
