Numbness
Numbness
I woke up this morning (thank God) and my right hand and part of my arm was numb. Of course my first thought was it fell asleep but the numbness is still here. Then I was thinking uh oh mini stroke.
Looked a bit on the internet and its plausible its a disc in the neck or carpal tunnel causing the numbness.
I was curious if anyone else has experienced this and how long did the numbness last.

Numbness
I haven't an idea what it may be, but if it persists I would visit my physician at the earliest opportunity. (If it was your left arm I'd say opportunity be damned, go now!)
Numbness
Its happened to me often. Totally the hand, maybe up the wrist, but not the arm. I have plausible reason to know it is from carpel tunnell. ( My work)
But if its never happened to you before, you might want to check it out.
Especially because you didnt put numb arm down in the how will you die thread... and you dont want any surprises. Seriously, check it out.

Numbness
It has happened to me quite a lot.Do you sometimes sleep with your arms up over the pillow hope you know what I mean, anyway something to do with the circulation I think. Anyway, I dont have major health problems so it should not be anything to worry about. If you do see a doc, please let us no what he says.
Numbness
its not uncommon you slept on it and made it numb now deal with it.:wah:
God its all about you isnt it...you! you! you!..Dont even start me on the polar bear!

Numbness
I have carpal tunnel and it happens quite often. A hand brace helps. I'd have it checked out to be safe though.
Numbness
I say if it lasts longer than a day go see the MD. Maybe you pinched something in your sleep... btw I hope your not pinching Mrs Nomad in your sleep.
I don't wake up with numbness in my hand but I get bouts of it whenever my Iron levels are low.
Keep an eye on it mate and don't fear the MD.

Numbness
You could have pulled a muscle, put a kink in your back, or something else that would explain the numbness. If it continues tomorrow, go see the doc'! It won't hurt one little bit.
Numbness
Nomie what do you want to know. I have tendonitis in both elbows, I have had carpal tunnel surgery in both hands, I have broken my neck, had my left shoulder repaired and all of these caused, and still cause numbness in my arms and hand.
1. Strokes are usually on the left side.
2. First I will ask have you been doing anything that would be considered over use of your right arm? Keying, hammering, you name it any repetitive action can cause numbness.
3. If you have stop it immediately and begin heat and ice off and on all day.
4. If you have any Motrin, Advil take it every 4 hours or Naprosen which a perscription anti-inflamatory.
5. See an Ortohopedic doc if the above doesn't help.
6. If it was something you did at work file a report.
Keep us posted of your progress please.

Numbness
I had the fingers in my left hand go numb for a few days until I got to a chiropractor and had my neck/shoulder area adjusted. It was a trapped nerve. Disconcerting.

I hope things have improved for you Nomad, can't have been pleasant I'm sure.
Numbness
I feel ok aside from the "regular" aches and pains, thanks.
On a side note should minksy be using British words like mate ?
Is this appropriate jargon for a Canadian ?
Im thinking no.
Someone should speak with her about this.

Numbness
I noticed this was an old thread....wondering if Nommie did find out what the problem was?
I had carpal tunnel, but didn't need surgery, I wore the wrist braces for a period of time and it helped tremendously.....that was almost 19 years ago.
I suffer from numbness all the time, I can me driving down the street and my hand will go numb....I just chalk it up to bad circulation and Wendy really needs to shed her extra weight.....
I hope all is well with you Nomad my friend!:-4
