Four in 10 bikers dodge road tax

Post by Chezzie »

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency risks becoming "a complete laughing stock" after it emerged nearly 40% of motorbikes were untaxed, MPs have said.

Evasion rates among all road users rose to 5% in 2006-7, costing taxpayers £214 million, up from 3.6% in 2005-6.

The Commons Public Accounts Committee urged the DVLA and Department for Transport to consider measures such as imposing penalty points on tax-dodgers.

The government said it was determined to "force tax evaders off the roads".

I love this quote

Large parts of the biking community are cocking a snook at the law

They have the same problem here. Their solution was to cut the cost of licensing and tagging motorcycles. The course you ride to get your license is pretty straightforward but you must posess some skill to get through it.

Once you pass its cheap to get on the road though.

I got mine through the motorcycle safety course the state offers and I think Ill take some advanced riding courses this summer.
I AM AWESOME MAN
