I now realize the last time I looked for a job it took too long to get hired and when I did get hired it was at less of a job than I could have had. I now realize my resume should have simply stated that if hired I would change things.
Interview:
Q: Clint, how will you get control of the excess spending?
A: Well, I’ll change things.
Q: Clint, employee morale is very low, how will you improve morale?
A: Well, (with much bravado) I’LL CHANGE THINGS!!
Q: Clint, our infrastructure is failing, what will you do to turn that trend around?
A: Well, (with more bravado and tears) I’LL CHANGE THINGS!!!
If I had only known.:-1

Your hired! Your job will be of course, changing tires.
You can start on monday, no benefits, you will get healthcare eventually when Hillary changes it, intil then too bad. You must pass a drug test, PPD, a lifting test to satisfy the americans with disabilites act, you must attend six weeks of hazardous materials training and sign waivers you will not sue us or hold us liable since rubber is a cancer causing agent.
I guees Clint, that it would only be good to make a big deal about 'change' IF you worked in a tire shop!
Did I make your point?:)
Thank you for the job...I hope I will be able to handle it. I have to admit the pay and benefits are commensurate with the qualifications.

I can only speak personally, but I really think there's a need for a reform party that simplifies and de-politicizes washington. A push to open up transparency in government, and take a bi-partison approach to problems.
Bush, IMO, has gained power by using a lot of divisive, inflammatory rhetoric. It's split the country in half.
That is what I think Obama has tapped into ... and other candidates have started emulating him because the message hit a nerve. Everyone seems to have gotten on the "change" bandwagon now.
I have to say I'm honestly impressed with Obama ... he's probably the best salesman running. He can say the same thing as most everyone, but people just like him better as he says it.
For example, a day after Obama won Iowa, Romney unveiled a giant (never before seen) slogan "Washington is Broken" and declared himself the "candidate of change" ... to which others agreed.
A large part of the presidency is a sales position ... who can sell an idea? In that sense, the job is partly psychological in function. You do a good job if people think you do a good job.
Edit: of course, as far as experience, Obama has probably got the least experience/qualifications of all the democrats. He's just good at selling himself.

Yeah ... he really wasn't someone I took seriously until watching him lately. He's a better salesman than Reagan, IMO. I think he has the potential to be the next JFK... given the way he can fire people up ...

I see...I should vote for the candidate who can say "change" with the most sensarity, can fire people up and runs a real good campaign. To heck with looking for substance.

In my line of work I lead change. I do it by focusing on a vision with specific goals and tasks to accomplish those goals. If I showed up with a promise to "change" things without a plan to deliver I would never get hired. Voters need to demand answers from they people who want to be President and vote for the one that has the best vision and plan to get there. Gender, race and religion have nothing to do with it.

What is "this"
How we look for substance?
or what?
Just wondering where you are coming from.

Yes .. I was partly kidding ... but I just meant the overall selection process...

Athletes are often traded to other teams because they need a "change" of scenery, I like to "change" my perspective to see other sides of issues, arguments and ideas.
So, in many respects, your thread title is accurate and true much of the time, isn't it?
A ship crossing the ocean changes direction constantly in order to stay on course. If it changed direction without a course to follow it would become hopelessly lost. Changing just because we don't like the direction we are going without knowing the new course is very dangerous.
When an athlete is traded it is because the teams involved need a change to stay on course and the coaches know what that course is. Even changing perspective is done to accomplish the goal of seeing other sides.

At least the democrats have a vision other than just invading other countries...whew!
One thing consistant about Democrats is they always get around to making the issues partisan.

What if the ship is heading right for a giant iceberg? I'd take a hard turn left or right.

Yes, the Watch Officer orders a left or right then when clear of the iceberg he gets back on course...the course set by the Captain.
