tell us about your diet, how much weight you'd like to lose, and get moral support here from other Forum Gardeners :-6 ......i needed to get rid of about 20 pounds, i'm 5'10" tall and didn't look "fat" but i felt the extra 20 pounds. so i went on the "work-12-hours-a-night-and -never-get -a -decent -meal diet" combined with the "have a big heart attack diet". ..it works! ( but i don't recommend it. ) everyone is different, but sharing your experiences may help other people who are struggling with "weighty" issues.and before amyone starts~i don't eat donuts!

I am appalled at how much wieght I put on over christmas. I have now done something constructive about it and removed the battery from the scales.

Ladycop, how could having more of you around be a bad thing?

I could definitely stand to diet. Between a desk job all day, and a student's desk all night, it's very hard to get in exercise. I don't eat well, grabbing whatever is quick and available in my frig...dinner last night was crackers and olives.

I have 20 more months of school (it's less than 2 years, so, like toddlers, I get to count it in months now, LOL). There is no way I can keep up this pace without doing something different.

I did start water aerobics so I could tone, trim, and get more energy. But we're working like dogs through Feb, long days, 7 days a week. I'll have to put it off until March. All I'm doing now is drinking lots of water - and oddly, the more water I'm drinking, the more thirsty I am. Has anyone had this happen?

Ah well, speaking of which, I had better cut this break short and get back to the grind. But, LC, I'm in :)

I would like to lose 20 pounds of fat and keep all my muscle tone. It's

really rough though. I don't look "fat" and I kinda would like to do one of

those guess your weight things at the state fair, I know they would be

far off!! Muscle weighs more than fat, thank goodness. And I have quads

which you would not believe, I finally had to cut down my stationary

biking to 5 miles 5 days instead of 20!! LOL!

My husband's suggestion was to quit worrying about it, worry apparently

builds up is it cortisol in your blood stream? Makes things worse.

Basically, the number on the scale is just that, a number. My genetic

inheritance is never gonna let me be svelte.

I am just tired of being so HUNGRY all the time, unless I really fill up

with pizza or a big meal, I have that appetite nearly all the time. And

that sucks. So I plod along, doing the best I can, lots of exercise but

still having too high of a calorie intake I'm sure.

I try to quit eating fairly early in the day, so as to have a fighting

chance of burning some off before I go to bed.

I used to have so much more willpower than I seem to now. Used to

be able to fast for 3/4 days in a row. Never bothered me.

Good luck to any/all dieters out there, I feel for ya!

I've been on a diet since mid-January and am happy to say I'm half way to my goal of fitting in my size 6 clothes. I made it from 10 to 8 in a month on the Slim Fast diet. I know Slim Fast is just a gimmick, but if it's not easy to follow I won't do it. I don't like to have to think that hard about what I'm going to eat :guitarist

Thanks, I've never been on a long term diet like this before, I used to just fast a day or two to get back to normal, but it got away from me while I was too busy to notice. :o I have a small frame so size 6 on me is about right. I was a 4 for awhile when I was in college, but I know I'll never get back to that. :wah:

Heres my problem. Due to active job and ALOT of stress, maintained size 6 forever! Now I'm less active, unable to find ephedrine or anything REMOTELY resembling a diet pill in england, I've gotten 'chubby'. I need to drop about 20 pounds. I'm getting ready to get drastic. Liquid diet plus vitamins. If any of the english girls have a better plan, please let me know! My former muscular, slim physique is going to flab, and I'm NOTICING! HELP!!!

Well.. first suggestion.. get active again. Walk, run, bike... anything to get your muscle tone back. Personally I avoid fat burning pills lie ephedrine.. or any equivalants. They are not all that effective and not all that great for the heart. So.. step one get active. Step two.. pay attention to what you eat. Read labels. Most "lowfat, nofat" foods have extra salt and sugar in them to make up for flavor loss. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies.. cut back on red meat and avoid processed foods if possible. Fish.. poultry... dump the white bread.. change to whole grains.. and remember..everything in moderation. This will not dump pounds in ahurry.. but it is safer and if you follow it you will keep the weight off. I can't stress the importance of working out.. find something you enjoy and do it.. consisitantly.. don't allowyourself to fall into the "oh I can make it up later" routine..

Myself.. 6ft.. 215.... spinning classes 3 times a week.. hike.. bicycle.. walk .. swim in the summer .. winter.. gym 4 times a week.. downhill ski. snowboard..

good luck Raven...

You will not find a diet pill here Raven. If you dont get the excersise you used to then I reckon less calories is the only way. Problem here is that if you eat any processed foods they are laden with fats and sugars.

Not sure that any of the liquid diets do any good I think they shift it but you have to keep it up forever.

I presume by the way that is an American size 6 !!. If it is UK then you are already tiny.

Hi Raven. You sound like me. I have always been slim and was a size 4 forever. Then stress, the job, etc. took its toll and I got up to 10's & 12's. I decided in January I just couldn't let it go and I'm back to a 6 and can wear some 4's (as long as they are looser styles). My method is the Slim Fast one. I know it is a gimmick, but it's easy to follow. I haven't really gotten into the exercise rountine yet. I just make sure all my snacks are either fruits or vegetables. For supper, I eat a regular meal, but nothing processed and nothing high in calories and #1 rule: NO fast food. :)

Oh girls on a flip side, I have to tell you I was your average 8-9 for life and with the stress of the divorce I dropped instantly to a 3-5 and had to buy a whole new summer wardrobe and winter wardrobe. And thank heavens I am back up to my 8-9 as that was terribly unhealthy and unpretty. Hang in there girls and just make sure you are healthy that is what truly counts.

Oh yes! It's a NIGHTMARE for american women! A size 8 in american sizes, means you wear a size TWELVE in Britain!

I've been feeling really fat, ever since I got here. :-1 My husband thinks I'm just the bee's knee's, bless him. :-4 But due to the diet changes, the water changes, and the fact you guys dont have the FDA, means I'm eating and drinking different stuff. My digestive track has noticed! I cant find ANYTHING that really fits. Too many european clothes sizes. American women are built a little different than europeans. We're more muscular. Most of us dont look like we're waifs. LOL! We're not tiny people. The fat I've developed is the worst sort to get rid of. But the thing that kills me, is that I dont eat any more than I used too! I've just got to find a gym or something. :(

Absolutely american 6. Now I'm a british 12! That really sucks. I'm too afraid to eat any fresh meat here. I'm basically on a vegetarian diet. I've even cut out the pasta for crying out loud! I just need to boost the metabolism by getting off my utterly butterly bum, and get to a gym.
