Eggnog!

Post by Jasper »

One of my favorite things about this time of year is when eggnog is available at the grocery store. I just picked up a half gallon today. It will be gone by tomorrow. Anyone else love eggnog?! With or without the kicker? :D

From Wiki:

Eggnog (or egg nog) is a sweetened dairy-based beverage made with milk, cream, sugar, beaten eggs (which gives it a frothy texture), and flavoured with ground cinnamon and nutmeg; alcoholic versions also exist with the addition of various liquors, such as rum, brandy, or whisky. Eggnog is popular in North America. Eggnog is associated with winter celebrations such as Christmas and New Year's. Commercial, non-alcoholic eggnog is available around Christmas time and the winter holidays in North American grocery stores and this variant is available all year round in Australian stores. While the origins of eggnog are debated, it may have originated from posset (a medieval European beverage made with hot milk).

I just had some with brandy at a Thanksgiving party. It wasn't bad and the brandy definitely helped make it.

Here's a recipe:

I'm with Sheryl on this one ----->>>>:yh_sick:yh_sick

My oldest son LOVES it, and one year I distinctly remember him BEGGING me to buy some, I kept on forgetting to the point that my father finally bought it and brought it to my house for him...because his forgetful mother forgot to buy it:o:o

LOVE Eggnog, with or without the kicker. Try to keep my intake down to about a half gallon over the holidays - sure don't need them calories, but Yummy.

I like eggnog in small doses dispensed at limited moments of the year. Especially when blended with itsybitsy pieces of ice and khalua cream-sp? (been a while since I've had this :wah:)

Must be similar to the folks who like liverwurst. Which I do not like at all (insert 'upchuck' icon here).
