I wonder how to do this too as my son has a PSP or whatever it's called and I'd like to be able to download games and movies and such for him, of course I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee to do so, but how do this? Anyone...excluding Nomad :wah:
Then you should know what Mini Me is overlooking. :p
What you need:
PSP whichever version...
USB cable
Wireless router
TightVNC
Pvnc
First you need to connect PSP using the USB to Mini USB cable... then go into your settings and click on USB Connection. If done correctly it should display USB Mode in the centre of the screen. If so, then your computer should create a drive for it that you can access via the Start menu. If you don't have such a directory just for PSP, then you'll have to create one.
Next you'll have to configure it to function on the network... Network Settings> Infrasturcture>New Settings. Then you'll have to enter all your info which you can find via Start menu > Run > CMD, then type in ipconfig /all You'll need that info there where it says IP address and all those numbers.
Then you continue on from there and be asked about proxy servers... most likely this will be set to "No" then continue on verify and save what you entered. Then you'll have to install your TVNC and follow on with that and then go back into your PSP and then go to Game>Memory Stick> PVNC Viewer. From there it's pretty much self explanitory...

You can switch the psp between USB, Wireless and Memory Stick Duo from what I gather.
The cable - if you do it that way - is the USB A to Mini-B (5-pin) version. There are a lot of USB ends, those are the ones that work.
The Wireless requires you to have a router somewhere in range, and you need to set up your ISP and WEP/WAP details, no harder than doing it on a PC but I'd struggle with the interface if I were doing it.
I'm reasonably sure that if you had a Memory Stick Duo and a connector on the PC that takes it you can transfer games that way as well.
The games downloads (I think) run on the PC, recognize the USB connection to the psp and transfer the game for you. It's called a Game Connect pack.

Assuming that you have the necessary wireless internet connection and USB cable to link the PSP and PC. This Youtube explanation worked for us (the graphics are BAD) but if you follow the instructions step by step it does work. Good luck Watermark :-4
I'll try connecting a USB cable to my wireless laptop and see if we can make a connection. I doubt it. I've had very little success with USB cables and my wireless. I haven't tried a lot but from the little I have tried I've found it to not work, whatever I was trying, whether a silly little printer connection or a camera. I'm also wondering how much internet speed has to do with this connection ability. I have relatively small speed, due to lack of affordability with our local megacorp phone company here (which is another issue altogether).
Thanks for your response over my visible frustrated one about psp or any of those dang computerized gizmos kids play on these days. Gawd I long for those days when a person could just push a button on the remote! --j/k I can't get that to work either-- lol!
my knowlege is limited to the fact my teenagers love those machines..and before i know it..can have a den full of friends..going nuts..for hours...i fix drinks and make popcorn for them and shut the door...to drown out the noise..:p
