Manhunt!
i found out this morning that three of my brother sheriff's deputies in florida have been shot while answering a domestic violence call. there is a massive manhunt in lake county. two schools are locked down, one neighborhood evacuated. troopers have roads blocked and sheriff has brought in heavy armored vehicle and choppers are up. this shooter is 29 years old, name jason wheeler. i just heard from sheriffs office one of the deputies has died. :-1
Manhunt!
And remember, we're supposed to be an ADVANCED species...
Let's hope the rest of the deputies recover and that the suspect is found!

This guy should be flown over to Iraq and dropped off in one of the red zones for a few days.

I am so sorry to hear that another has gone while serving and protecting the people from harm. Another useless, senseless killing. My prayers are with their families and the others who are injured. I hope that they will be well. It is always a sad day when someone dies in the line of duty.
God bless them all and keep them safe.

We have had maybe four in the last thirty years. It saddens me to hear this news that there are so many that die in the line of duty. Some day I hope that you can speak the numbers of your deaths as I do mine.
It's a dream but it is the dream's fruition that makes our lives what they are.
Want to see you catch him sooner rather than later.
God speed.

I hope he resists arrest too. Course, shooting's too good for this creep. Maybe a K9 will get hold of him...(gleefully rubbing my hands together...)You'll let us know when you guys get him?

SWAT has taken actual tanks into the deep woods. this guy may be very heavily armed. i am thinking he may well decide to go out in a "blaze of glory", and start firing on officers. he knows he can't escape now, and he's looking at death row for killing a cop...he has nothing to lose, so he is very dangerous.as soon as anything changes i will report here. i am monitoring carefully.
Manhunt!
scumbag has been captured, shots fired, suspect "has injuries" , don't know extent yet. this just came down. thankfully this happened before nightfall. he was brought out by airboat, was very deep in the forest. guess he has some bullet holes.

Excellent!!! Save the state of Florida some money and let the scumbag die in O.R.

hey, thanks everyone...i hear the dirtbag is "critical" , but no details yet. it was a very tense day in florida i can tell you! there were 500 officers on the hunt and 15 agencies (including mine) represented. ultimately bloodhounds tracked him into the deep bush. and there was a brief firefight. .........the Sheriff came out in tears, crying for the deputy who was murdered...he was 33 years old, married, two young children. now all of us will have black shrouds on our badges and attend yet another police funeral....where his radio number will be called out three times by dispatch over our radios, but no answer returns...then dispatch gives his radio number as 10-7--out of service. there is no worse moment. :-1
Manhunt!
~Wayne Koester~another hero cop murdered today~10-7~ I have goose bumps reading all the details LADYCOP. I'm so sorry that this has happened again. He was so young, brave, and now deceased. I salute all LAW ENFORCEMENT ACROSS THE COUNTRY, we owe them so much to them, each and every day. :-1
I HOPE THE COP KILLER SUFFERS LONG BEFORE HE DIES.. !!

I got shivers reading this. It's eerie, and sad and maddening. A waste. I sincerely hope that useless piece of excrement dies a long, slow, painful death.

Babyrider, you and Carla and Tmbsgrl and others here are sweet and tender loving people. i thank you deeply. i have been to too many police funerals in the past year or so. we stand there at attention in our Class 'A"s and smokey the bear hats, and our hearts are breaking. we know we could be next. one was 21-year-old Josh Blyler, he was a sweetheart and a 'kid' to me. his casket was open, he was in the uniform he had just earned , his mother bent over and kissed his brow and i ABSOLUTELY LOST IT! ...what happens is every agency in florida and other states as well, will send representatives. there were 5000 of us at Josh's funeral and all traffic in that city voluntarily stopped to let all our cars and bikes pass. we also send our own cruisers to patrol the county in which one has been lost, so they can all attend. we have had to do it too much....oh, one more thing...if the dirtbag lives to go to jail, we will get him at our county jail because he could GET HURT in the jurisdiction where he killed the Deputy. we protect the bastard until the end.

i am happy to report that wheeler is currently cuffed and shackled to a hospital bed. and will probably live to go to death row. he had been shot in the arm and leg. the officers who captured him showed remarkable restraint since he fired on them.

I am glad to see that he is in the hands of the police. I am even gladder that the cop that shot him didn't kill him. Smart move. Don't let 'it' off so easy. Excellent! Let him live with the pain and suffering he has caused to good people.
Now if we could just get your head around your fixation on an 'eye for an eye' then maybe the slain officers grandchildren can go to the zoo and see the animal aging and dying behind the bars that he so deserves.
There are far too many police that die because of some spur of the moment suicidal temperament that these too chickens**t to take their own lives, going out in a blaze of glory perpetrators use as their excuse for dying and killing innocent people doing their jobs.

While I am sorry that officers lost their lives, I am at the point in my life where I have to wonder this. How many times did they have the opportunity to arrest him before and let him go? How many times was he arrested and the courts let him go? Would he get the same sentence for shooting me as he would for shooting a cop? I know it's sounds harsh, and bitter, but too many times I've seen where the pledge should be changed to "With justice for some".
Manhunt!
Hi Peg....he had, in fact, been arrested and convicted on prior felonies. and was sentenced within the guidelines. but he had served his time. state legislators have seen fit to seek death, by statute, for murderers of police and firefighters, since they are the front line, and all that stands between the public and the bad guy. it is not that they are more valuable people , it is because when police or firefighters are killed in the line of duty, it is an affront to all citizens. we are the representatives of your government and hopefully your protectors. most people don't go to work every day thinking they may be murdered on their job and never come home again.
Manhunt!
You have a valid point there. Chances are, I can go to work and know I am coming home alive. It just drives me insane that "people" like this can commit numerous felonies and do time, but it takes something drastic for the courts to decide that hey, maybe this person should not be put back in public.
