GIANT "UFO" FIREBALL CRASHES INTO WATER OF JERSEY SHORE
Quote
FIERY UFO BLOWS UP OFF N.J.
By PHILIP MESSING and HASANI GITTENS
September 2, 2007 -- Head for the hills! A mysterious giant "fireball" was spotted exploding over the ocean off the Jersey Shore last night, but officials had no idea last night what it was.
The unidentified falling object was first seen at about 8:40 p.m. by people on Normandy Beach in Ocean County, and was also spotted as far away as Fire Island and South Carolina, officials said.
"It was dispatched as a fireball, out over the ocean, going into the ocean," Deputy Chief Tim Cook of the Toms River, N.J., Fire Department told The Post.
At least 15 witnesses on the beach all described the same thing, he said.
"It was a large fireball that came down and sort of dropped down into the ocean."
Coast Guard cutters and helicopters were dispatched, but found nothing, said Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer Nyx Cangemi.
"It's a real mystery," he added.
The FAA also had no idea what it was.
"We have no planes reported missing," said agency spokesman Jim Peters who said he checked with area airports and nearby McGuire Air Force Base.
Some officials speculated that it may have been a comet or a meteor, but a spokeswoman with the New Jersey Astrological Association said, "It's news to us."
The rare Aurigid meteor shower - which produces blue and green lights - was expected to take place last night, and may have been to blame.

gmc, do you believe in UFO's? I believe that there is intelligent life in outer space, but I'm not sure if we've met them yet
I remember my college prof trying to explain how large our universe is. He even felt at that time that there was more than one universe. He explained that if you walked along a block of beach and picked up every grain of sand, each grain represented a galaxy. He peaked my interest in astronomy. I bought a telescope and I'm a looking for comets and UFO's all the time.
That's how I happened to spot Aussie Pam flying along the New Jersey coast. Thank goodness she finally arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a pizza and beer right away and she was sooooooo late.:-4

GEESCH, Girlfriend - I came as fast as I could, all things considered. I mean, you get abducted by aliens en route, it takes a while to um how shall I put it "probe them in ways they understand" - with one's broomstick - then there was that little contretemps with the moon, and the manatee... and you know the rest!
Here ya go!!

Hello my Friend,
It's always an adventure with you. Thanks so much for the yummo pizza and Smithwicks....Ahhhhh, I really needed that. Instead of Klees tonight ,why don't you cyber over, and we'll have a cyber party with all of our FG pals. We'll drink champagne and have appetizers all night while we watch for UFO's.
I've set up some champers and cheese and crackers.
(((Pam))) do me a favor though and don't fall into the ocean again. Paying the coast guard to look for aliens ups our tax dollars ya know, and you know that there are sharks out there

They aren't Scottish - that's another language entirely. My current siggy is Gaelic and "Alba 's cha robh cho-bhann" means"Scotland and no Union".

There's definitely something we can't explain but whether they are alien or not I have an open mind. A lot of the early radar sightings you can put down to how primitive the radar was back then, some are optical illusions. I remember one time seeing an orange ball one evening at dusk that seemed to turn sharply and be under intelligent control and it paralleled my car for a while. It wasn't till I stopped my car and listened that i realised I was looking at the afterburner on an RAF jet from the nearby base.
Same with all the crop coracles, some are probably a hoax but not all and not all over the world.
people used to believe thunder was the gods arguing and earthquakes signs of god's wrath so maybe one day we will work out what they are.

Undoubtedly some are but the phenomenon is so widespread throughout the world that there must be a lot of people with nothing better to do than spend their time making them, which is why I wonder of there is a natural explanation involved somewhere. People used to think cholera was caused by foul air now we know better. If you can't explain something blaming aliens is as good an explanation as any. Another age it would have been a sign from god or the devil depending on the disposition of whoever was around at the time.

I was not writing in Irish. I was, in fact employing Gàidhlig. That would be Scottish Gaelic as distinct from Gailige (which is the Irish version).
AP - You go stand in another corner. That was just like a BabelFish translation. Bad girl.

Choices, choices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kathy - you've excelled yourself, and your self is already so excellent, that's really saying something. The chairlift reminds me of one in SilverStar, Canada on the back of the mountain. Neat and very difficult to ski down directly underneath it, on that narrow track. Wide tracks are more forgiving.. but I digress...
It's so cold in the house here this morning I think I'll elect for the deck chairs in the sun, with a glass of champers and a good book. Remember, the other day, you pointed me towards Anthony Bourdain's 'Nasty Bits'?! :sneaky: I'm tracking that down, but, in the meantime, I've found 'Kitchen Confidential'. It's set, the beginning part anyway, round Hyde Park, Poughkeepsie etc.. (G'day Frannie!) - and I'm ROTFLd.
On the subject of the Hudson River area, I saw in this morning's news that George Clooney and girlfriend came a cropper on a bridge there. Motorcycle crash. Broken rib, broken foot. I wonder if it's the same girlfriend Romy bonded with at MTV??? .
. but I digress... back in the corner.

It's muck up week* here, Mag !! I headed out into the country yesterday and when re-entering the city, at the first stop lights, had my day made by a muckerupper frolicking happily along the road, in the altogether. His nasty bits were decidedly acceptable, in a nasty kind of way. :sneaky:

Magenta, I love Anthony Bourdain and love all of his books. "Kitchen Confidentials" was fabulous and I can't wait to begin "The Nasty Bits." How do you know of him.....thought he was just popular in the States.
Pam, I hope you love "Kitchen Confidentials "as much as I did. Never realized what a great writer he is. I'll send you "Nasty Bits" if you can't find it...let me know:-4
It is hot, rainy and muggy at the beach...yuk!!!!!!!!! Planned on sneaking some wine on the beach and beginning "Nasty Bits" maybe tomorrow.

I would have taken a pic, Magenta!! It was either that or signalling my phone number!
Best muck up week stunt I'm aware of was perpetrated by a family member (with the help of her brother and other large, well-muscled aussie fans) - and I don't think the school ever discovered the source. During the night, a small car was somehow squeezed into the posh school main quadrangle (it would have had to be carried sideways through the narrow arches) and somehow found its way up into a large gum tree in the middle of the quad. The surrounding classrooms had a wonderful view of this surreal creativity the whole next day. The following day the car had vanished, as mysteriously as it appeared. And to this day.. it's ghost can be heard as you pass by that billabong.....

I've never seen his show on television, but of course wasn't looking. I'll look out for him. I'm loving 'Kitchen Confidential"!!! Have 'Nasty Bits' on order - the local bookshop had run out but have ordered me one from their outlet at, of all places, Bondi Beach!! Grin. Kind of fitting, that!!

I don't have any of his books though , can you recommend one of his better books?
Wow, I didn't see that show...I'll have to see if it's repeated. Is the show you watched called "No Reservation." It's on our "Travel Channel." I loved both books I've recommended to Pam......."Kitchen Confidentials" and "Nasty Bits." Both books are tell alls about chefs that I know from their NY restaurants. He's admitted that he's drunk or stoned in all of his programs....you'd never know it:-4
DAMN:-5 didn't know he was married.

Have 'Nasty Bits' on order - the local bookshop had run out but have ordered me one from their outlet at, of all places, Bondi Beach!! Grin. Kind of fitting, that!!
Pam,
One day we will meet on Bondi Beach. I want to check out these life guards.
