7 year old girl found stabbed to death at school

HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. -- A 7-year-old girl was found stabbed to death at a parochial school Thursday, and the son of a former village police chief is among those being questioned.

The girl's body was discovered about 75 minutes after classes started Thursday morning at Sacred Heart of Jesus School, police Chief Peter Miller said. It was not immediately clear when or where the child was killed.

Parents rushed to pick up their children after learning of the slaying.

Police, who did not identify the slain student, said they were questioning several people in the death, including Chris Rhodes, 27, the son of former Highland Falls police Chief Linwood Rhodes Jr. Authorities did not disclose Chris Rhodes' connection to the girl or the names of anyone else being questioned.

The school, run by the Roman Catholic archdiocese of New York, has 240 students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade.

Has he confessed? Do they have any idea why he did it? Other than the fact that he's a sick, warped, demented, piece of $hit?

Blood recovered from home of Christopher Rhodes

Middletown Ã¢â‚¬“ Blood and other physical evidence was recovered from the home of Christopher Rhodes, who is charged with murdering his 7-year-old daughter, Jerica Rhodes, at her Catholic elementary school Thursday, state police and prosecutors said at news conference this morning.

"This is a circumstantial case relying on physical evidence," Orange County District Attorney Frank Phillips said. DNA was obtained from Rhodes through a search warrant, he said.

The DNA samples from Rhodes will be compared with DNA taken from the blood found in his home and at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Highland Falls, where Jerica was found stabbed to death yesterday morning.

His lawyer, Sol Lesser, spoke with Rhodes this morning at Orange County Jail, where he is being held on a charge of second-degree murder.

"I can only tell you that there is a complete, absolute denial," Lesser said. "The horror here is that he is grieving for her and he is being charged with murdering her."

This is absolutely horrible! I can't even imagine why anyone .......God forbid her own father killing her. That Little little girl. Tragic!

This reminds me of a sad, but true story of a little girl named Tasha Latham. Her mother starved her to death, dumped the body in a landfill, and then claimed she was abducted. When the judge was handing down the sentence, he brought up the song, "The Little Girl" by John Michael Montgomery. I still get teary eyed when I hear that song and it just makes me sick that there are actually people in a so-called civilized society that could harm children, let alone their own parents. The people they are supposed to trust most. The people that are supposed to protect them, not murder them.

the father of the suspect is on greta (FOX) right now, says he had the child living with him since infancy. refuses to comment further. he did say the mother has not been in child's life since she was a few months old. they showed her photo, such a cute little girl. the father, who is charged, is denying vehemently.

from what i understand there was blood in the father's residence that matched the child's. probably on clothing is my surmise. or shoes. if that is true, yes, he is good for it. unfortunately it usually is a family member, who else has "motive"?
