What Stuff Has Changed Your Life??

Post by RedGlitter »

I was very politely asked by a friend to start a new thread for this subject. I know we have a real old thread for this, but please let it die and use this one instead.

Everything affects your life in some way, like the wind and the river continue to shape the Grand Canyon. But some things stand out more than others.

So here are some of mine:

1. Being in love and having sex for the first time. Knowing I was loved. Taking someone into my soul.

2. Hearing a warning voice when I was being stalked through the graveyard.

3. Coming into contact with a spirit.

4. A psychic reading I once had.

5. The last heart to heart talk I had with my best friend.

6. Watching my mother die and learning to live without her.

7. Meeting somebody who made me not want to give up when I was planning to. (thanks pal)

8. Hasn't happened yet. Thank God.

1. Giving birth to my beautiful son

2. Watching my mother die

3. Talking to my mother about issues that we had before she died

4. My sister convincing me to move interstate

5. Leaving home at 13

I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of, but I wouldn't change a thing. Even the smallest things have made me the person I am, and put me in the place I am now, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere or anyone else!

1. The first time I wrote a story for public view; and it didn't change it for the good.

2. Leaving a place I had made my new "home" to come back Home, and finding out after I got here that the roof of my new home had blown off in the wind. That last part was metaphor, or allusion, I'm too tired in the head to think of which.

3. My grandfather dying on Mother's day with me 15 hours away from home; and not being able to cry because there was already one person in the room crying who depended on me to be stable, constantly. That was what I wrote my first public view story about consequently.

4. The first time I realized that I drank vodka tonics for breakfast; lunch; and supper; and no one knew I was drinking.

I've been a fairly constant person my entire adult life. It amazes me how quickly it can all tumble down sometimes. One, two and four have all happned since this March, 3 happened 6 years ago, but I never talked about it till one happened. There are others, but its too late right now to dredge that one up again.
Life ain't linear.

Joining the Special Constabulary - I saw a whole new side to life, up until then I had a fairly idealistic take on things, but when you've walked into a few house with dog sh1t on the floor, babies crawling through it, no food in the cupboards but the latest tv's and electrical goods around you tend to think differently!

Being assaulted (not seriously) made me realise that I wasn't invincible (at 21 you tend to think you are)

Meeting my husband and becoming a step-mother.

Becoming a mother, having post natal depression and not bonding with my baby until she was a few months old. Sooo close now though.:-4

Developing a long term illness, which is life altering but fortunately not life ruining.

Being sexually assaulted (not seriously - thank you God for looking out for me that day)

The latest and one of the best - becoming a grandmother to a wonderful little boy that I completely adore:-4

What has changed your life? For me, it's my father. He has changed my life in so many ways. One example is what are you doing to help kids that go bed at night without a meal in our own backyard? Life is so much more than money. I sure had that one wrong.

I'm so lucky to be his son!

What has changed other peoples lifes?

Thanks

hmmm. ok. here i go.

this is a subject that is rarely discussed in my family. so, feel good to be privy to this information.

I was 7 years old & playing with my cousin in my father's hot tub. We were outside by ourselves. I decided that doing an underwater handstand would be fun! While doing so, I started kicking and flailing. My hair had gotten sucked in by the filters on the bottom. My cousin left me out there and went inside to tell on me.

I was underwater for 6-10 minutes until someone figured out what was going on. I was unconcious, the ambulance came, i was revived, and I stayed in the hospital for several weeks. Funny thing is that when I was brought back, I started talking about my grandfather. Apparently, I told them that I had walked down the tunnel to the light & hugged my late grandpa. I said that he had told me that it was not my time & that I had to go back.

As a result, I have always felt that I have a purpose in this world. I have a "knack" for making people see the beauty of walking the earth. It has been a blessing and a curse, because my relationships up to this point have been:

me with boy; boy depending on me for happiness; boy sucking me dry of my lifeforce. all in all, tho, i'm grateful. there is truly amazing beauty in EVERYTHING. I'm glad that I am able to appreciate it.

why did i just tell you all that? i really don't know.

laughter, love, and a healthy appreciation for the dark side!

Whew stuff that has changed my life, boy have I had some and lots of them.

Here are just a few.

1. Joining the army and getting into the first fire fight (discovered adreline was brown and runs down the back of your legs).

2. Leaving the country of my birth to explore the world.

3. Finding a job on an oil rig.

4. Meeting and marrying a woman I loved.

5. Having my first son with the woman I loved

6. Buying our first home to take the first son home to.

7. Getting a job in China and living in Hong Kong

8. Being made redundant.

9. Getting divorced from the woman I loved and losing the right to be a full time Dad to my two sons.

10. Coaching a young man to become a useful member of society, where society had given up on him.

11. Losing a favourite uncle and my godfather to the big C.

12. Finding I have a son in the country of my birth who I never met.

13. Meeting my son for the first time and discovering I was a grand father

14. Playing with my grandchildren who accepted me as their grand father

15. Lost a partner and my best friend I lived with for 17 years

And my life still goes on.

Enjoy each day and treat it as your last.

[Love]Light,

You told them that I had walked down the tunnel to the light & hugged my late grandpa. I said that he had told me that it was not my time & that I had to go back? That is what I have heard from others (the tunnel of light).

Thanks

At the risk of sounding like I missed your point...at least you were upside down.

(AP) A 6-year-old girl has been hospitalized after a horrifying accident at a swimming pool, when she sat on an open drain and a powerful suction pump tore out part of her intestinal tract.

Abigail Taylor was injured in the wading pool on June 29, according to her family.

Her father, Scott Taylor, told WCCO-TV that the suction caused a two-inch tear in Abigail's rectum and pulled out much of her small intestine. Doctors had to remove the part of her intestines that remained, according to the family's lawyer, Bob Bennett.

Abigail remained in intensive care at Children's Hospital on Thursday and appears to be doing better, Bennett said.

She was to undergo surgery on Friday, Bennett said. "She'll receive her nutrition through a port for the rest of her life," he said.

Bennett said the swimming pool's drain hole was improperly uncovered. However, the general manager of the club where the pool is located told the St. Paul Pioneer Press he did not think anything was wrong with the pool. He referred questions to the attorney for the club's insurance company, who declined to comment.

Several states have passed pool safety laws after children drowned or were disemboweled by drain suction. North Carolina, for instance, requires pools to have dual drains to diffuse the force of the suction and prevent children from being trapped.

What stuff has changed my life?

My third grade teacher who got me to join the Audabon Society, and had us collect rocks.

My first ballet teacher. I loved him so much.. He was very tall, and very gay.

He made me feel like a million bucks.

My fifth grade teacher. After that year with her... I was never without a book to read.

My best friend in Jr. High school. She was like a sister. Time in her home, with a Jewish family opened my eyes to the joy of diversity.

My drama teacher in high school. Time of my life being in his " Rat Pack" of thespians.

My first love, who died. Taught me not to walk away angry... that tomorrow isnt promised... and the meaning of real love, and pain.

The car accident, that temporarily wrecked my face, but built my strength and character.

My first rebound husband. Made me believe a lover should be a buddy, as well.

My second husband.... Got my education in alcohol and substance abuse.

The births of both my sons. Taught me unconditional love, and opened my eyes to miracles.

My divorce. Revealed strength, I never knew I had in me.

My next relationship. Taught me that life long friends and lovers can betray you.

My move from New York to Virginia. The joys of country living, and beginning to see that people from every state in the US are all very different.

Menopause... Has shown me how precious our youth is.

Being self employed.... Pretty much eliminated fear of financial ruin, and made me realize we werent meant to live in bondage, or under flourescent lighting 8 hours a day.

Forum Garden Opened up the world to me. Brought back the joy of taking a chance on people, Showed me what a fool I was to hate history in school.

What changed my life........

I was diagnosed with cancer.......I got through it inside of 7 months. My husband left me saying he could not stand to watch me die. Bastardo............I was never even close to death.

Then I met BTS on-line and we married a year later.

Joining marching band instead of the football team

Watching helplessly as my mom died from a heart attack

Whatever behind the scenes legal fighting occurred or didn't occur that caused me to go into foster care rather than live with my father

Group therapy

Working as a cottage parent at a home for mentally challenged

Joining the Air Force

Being talked into going to Moon Beach against my better judgment, and meeting a cute little hottie who had done the same thing

Joining Toastmasters International

An assignment to teach leadership skills at Kadena NCO Academy

Joining FG (no, really)

I hear the thunder and see the lightening......there is no rain...............

It would make my day to have some rain. Last year it never quit raining.

So what changed my life?
