Reason for having Internet Email Address
I can't speak for the U.K., but here in the U.S. the competition is heating between Broadband Providers. Many are offering two to three free months and then pretty low montly rates after that. Many folks will switch from one to another. Having a good Internet Email address saves having to notify everyone in you address book of you new address. Same kind of competition is going on between Cable TV and Dish TV. Competition is great for the consumer, for ultimately we benefit.

Funny thing, I've changed ISP three times over the years for various reasons but I'm still using the address I had with my original ISP. I've lost access to the WebMail but I've never had any problem with normal usage and they even run a better spam filter over it than my current ISP uses.
I don't know if the two intermediate addys still work as I never bothered to use them even when I was signed up.

Tomorrow we switch everything over to Qwest - umbrella package
Direct T.V. - Internet - and land line phone with 5000 free long distance minutes.
I hope the change over goes smooth - I'm always nervous when doing things like this.??

Reason for having Internet Email Address
I'm still waiting for decent competition to bring prices down out here. I learned the benefits of an internet email addy while moving around in the military. I've had the same hotmail address for years. I can't remember how long.

Seems to be some confusion about changing an email address. (those that know all about it, don't read any further).
If you have a POP address, which is one usually set up when you sign up with a company, it will usually end with the name of the company-eg. (your name @ aol com). If you go to another company, you will be unable to continue to use that address unless you are still paying aol as well. The easiest way to keep your address for always is use a webmail address such as gmail or yahoo, then it doesn't matter who you connect up with. Another way is to use "Bigfoot" (just put Bigfoot in a seach engine for details). If you have a bigfoot email adress they will forward it to your POP email inbox. All you need to do is to notify them when you change your company, and they will forward to the new address.
Is that as clear as mud?!!
