Jimbo

You and your family have been through so much, and you try not to be bitter or have a attitude - but we do

theres nothing wrong trying to get inner peace - this will help you & Suzy through the tough BS.. I'm not pushing the Bible/religion on anyone, I don't attend, but there is inner peace & strength.

Love the God Squad, made me laugh.

Jimbo, I am glad that you had a good time. I have been a Christian for a long time. I've gone through the "Bertha Better than you" stages, and now I'm in "Love my God with all my heart and soul-and love others as he would" stage...I would never push my beliefs on anyone, I would encourage them to trust God.

I have a brother that has been through almost all of his 9 lives...we tease him about this...he's lived a HARD life. At the age of 44, he gave his life to the Lord, while locked up in jail. I realize people turn to God in hard times, and then don't follow through with it. However, my brother has managed to turn his life around in 6 short months. He started his own Karate school and has a good job..So happy for him and you too Jimbo...sorry to go off topic somewhat...it's what I do!!

Am I still fluffy??

My dearest Jimbo, those who believe in God know the answer to these questions. Is God invisible? I see the beauty of nature around, look into the night sky at the wonders, and know He createdit.

Terrible things that happen-the Bible says the "Rain falls on the just and the unjust." And it would have to be a very technical religious debate to go even further than that, which I will not do here.

Who wrote it? Ghee, we have know that since it was inspired from God-Matthew, Mark, Luke, John....they wrote what God told them to.

Do I rant and rave against God, because of what has happened to my husband? No. Do I wonder? Sure I do. But do I go ahead and do what needs to be done, the way God would want me to. Yes, I do. I know my husband would not be alive, if not for faith, God's love, and more.

You know I love you and Suzy lots and lots. I will not go into debate about my beliefs, but am glad you saw a side of them with your friend.:-4

Good for you Jimbo! Some of us our nice! (not me right now because I am pregnant but most of the time I am!) It's hard to believe in something you can't see, but the more you believe, the more apparent He makes Himself to you. And P.S.- He has a sense of humor:D

I just saw this, and it's really late tonight when I'm answering this.

Chonsi said it very well...The Bible was written many years ago by the apostles and translated in different languages and passed down through the years, unfortunately this has been a stumbling block for many people. Once you believe, it doesn't become an issue actually. At least that was my experience.

I believe in God through faith:

For we walk by faith not by sight. 2 Cor 5:7

I know that he has changed my life, and feel the inner peace. I know that many times when I'm stressed and I have no strength to go on, I give it to him and he blesses me beyond belief. When I lost Mason, he carried me through it. I had people all around me, but I relied on inner strength and peace that came from my relationship with Jesus Christ.

As for him letting innocent people go through painful experiences or die horrible deaths. That is un-explainable and only he knows why it happens.

I know that a lot of people dis-agree with what I believe here in the Garden and I consider a lot of them my sweet friends. It is what I believe, won't argue about it. I was just thinking that the other day, if someone asks me, I'll tell them....and you asked:)

I hope this answers your question...feel free to ask me anytime:)

Jimbo, I used to attend church regularly but drifted away when I joined the Specials and left home. (one day I hope I drift back)

Some of the things that I have seen and experienced over the years are true faith challenging things but somehow i still believe and I hope I always will.

For me it comes down to two words - faith and belief. If you believe some of the bible you should believe it all. This is just my opinion not back up by scripture or anything in depth - just by what I feel.

You're not wrong for having doubts or not understanding - one day you may change your opinion but there again may not - it wont' change the fact that you are a kind man loved by many here.:-4

That is unfortunate Jimbo, I don't believe that you have to be a Christian to be a good and nice person. I don't judge anyone...at least I try not to....I know people like your Gran though and it's sad. My boys' Grandfather lives 20 miles from them and never sees them, but has pictures of his Church friends kids' posted on his Fridge. I think that is VERY sad, family is precious...:-6 :-4

Judging from your posts I've read thus far, I believe you've got a snowball's chance in Hell (oops :lips: ) of being sent to the "other" place. I sincerely wish I had your easy way with people and your optimism.

There are good people in every faith and creed. Unfortunately, a group of people are more than likely to be judged by the negative examples demonstrated by a relative few within that group. It speaks well of you, jimbo, that you put aside your preconceptions and see more positive aspects. Good on ya. :)

The Christian faith as all the other great faiths of the world began on two principles:

compassion and justice. It is not about right belief but about relationships not only with God but with your fellow man.

Trying to understand the divine is impossible but living with compassion and justice is quite understandable.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track.

A Christian pluralist.

Shalom

For those who wish to find a Christian, the USA is not the place to look. There is too much money there. Mexico, S. America, China, Africa, those are better places to look. Maybe even Canada.
