Why is it family and friends are the first to turn their backs?

Dear Katelyn.. I am The Black Sheep in my family. My deceased sister was cannonized.. My attorney sister is the scholorly ? Success. Shes an Attorney. I am the Gardener, Writer, Painter, Odd Ball Thinker. Somewhere way back in my beginnings .. I started loving to Say what I mean and mean what I say.. way of life. Kahil Gilbran wrote... Our children belong to us for a little while... Then we shoot them off like arrows....... To spend your life seeking family approval is to embrace a life of dissapointment and sorrow. Your a published author? Oh my!

What a reason to be proud! Enjoy it... Look forward... dont concern yourself with what anyone else thinks...... Weeder

Hi Katelyn, wait and see ~ give them time to come around. It maybe that they don't know how to react to your success ~ change scares people and perhaps they are defensive or even jealous.

Congrats by the way, you should be very proud of yourself and that matters more than what anyone else can say to you..

Jealousy is very hurtful. I remember distinctly the last time I felt it. My roommate and I both bought lottery tickets. We watched the draw together on tv. She won $20. Whoopee. But for some reason I got intensely jealous thinking I needed the twenty more. It passed in moments but I felt so filthy that I had a 45 minute shower to get rid of the nastiness and vowed never to feel jealousy again. I haven't. Unfortunely many people do. I have had people jealous of me for reasons I didn't understand and it affects you on many levels until you realize that it is a process they are going through on their journey to self love. It really has nothing to do with you.

I think it's beacause they are jealous that you made something out of you're seld and worked hard for it. They said the would support you because they fought you're dreams would never become reality and now that they have it frightens them. oh Well if they cant support you you're better of with out them. :p undefinedundefined

Family and friends, hum, I'll tell you the problem with them.

It tiz that they are human.

Now dogs and cats as long as you feed them and walk the dog and clean the cat's litter box. There is a support group:)

At some point you have to be your own person and stop acting to please people and meet their expectations. If they were really your friends they would not turn their backs. If they can't value you as an individual worry about it once and then move on. They will either come round to respect you or not you can't do it for them. Jealousy is a sign of insecurity just be a friend to them if they need you otherwise you become vindictive just like them.

Success is when you achieve what you want to achieve with your life whatever it is, not what someone tells you it is.

Bare with me this is sort of off topic but my husband and i have been married 6 years and have 3 kids, we have worked very hard for what we have, about to buy a house. A couple of months ago we let my brother in law and his girlfriend live with us until they could get on their feet with the deal to help with bills.. They stayed for 2 months and didnt help at all. when we tried to be nice and tell them they had to go b/c it wasnt working, they threatned to sue and do all sorts of things to take away everything we have. This was suppose to be family, they were mad b/c we had what they didnt, nevermind they wouldnt work for it. the point Im trying to make is you did a great thing.. you worked hard for this im sure, dont worry about what they say or think, im not stuck on myself but you have to look out for # 1 and thats you..they'll come around.. i have learned that that you family will turn their back on you faster than anyone... by the way whats the name of your book and where can i find it?
