Life Before The Pc
I didn't have much time for computers, apart from basic work use, everything was work and more work, but about five years ago I became sick and couldn't work anymore! I was pretty depressed for a while, and did a college course, just to get out mainly, I'm glad I did, got myself a PC and started doing digital photography and stuff initially. I only used the internet as a resource at first, then started looking at the odd couple of forums, joined one or two, but always felt like a noob, this place is the first where I feel at home really!.......oops! I'm goin on a bit aint I?......:wah:

That's 25 years ago, I can't remember. I expect I took less time to read a book and I know I was forever doing house renovation. I didn't have a TV then either, so it's not getting a computer that put me off that devilish time-wasting contraption.
The biggest change wasn't getting the computer, it was getting it online. Then it was the addition of the world wide web, that was a huge jump in what was possible.
The only thing that's been a constant throughout is that it gets cheaper every year.

Am I the only one here who has no clue as to why your picture is relevant to the subject matter? I mean seriously. Why do you have to repost it constantly? You posted it already about 10 times in the Photo thread. Okay, fine. But this thread has nothing to do with it.

Life before the PC...
I read more books, I was always working on a craft project of some kind or out in the garage tinkering around. I couldn't understand why anyone would want a computer, what were they good for?
Then we got one and it was a whole new world. I could go anywhere I wanted. I could travel, read, get my news, get music, write letters, have a journal, all of this and more with a computer!
I met lots of people, many jerks and some really cool ones. My best friend today is a woman I met online ten years ago!
I was a big fan of Hanson when they first came out. I flew to Seattle Washington to see them in concert and meet up with the other fans I'd been talking with online. It was quite an experience.
Now I take it all for granted but I remember the magic of the computer when it was new and I'd sneak on here and hear that happy Windows start-up sound. :wah: It was great.
My computer really has been a life changing and in some cases, a life saving piece of equipment.
Good question, Carolley.

I had no reason to ever want a computer when I was young I had a horse to ride and plenty of country side to rome and so many friends to meet up with , if I had a computer back then I know for sure I wouldn't have done what I did .
Life has changed and the computer dose come in handy from time to time but I'm always aware that I could get sucked up in that time loop and end up losing a couple of hours without realising that's what I find scary . :-2

But this thread has nothing to do with it. ime so sorry to all the good genuine nice posters on this site.sorry becouse i have to take back something i said not too long ago.i compared this site to one that carolley and i used to visit,i said that this forum site was much better becouse it was more polite, never rude and perhaps cos the bulk of posters were from usa,and os,that it had that friendly influence on folks here.well thats not the case it seems.on the last page i felt it neccissary to "apologise to the thread for carollley posting a pic of herself again, due to a posting by delilah that carolley had posted it about 10 times befors on the photoes thread.well ive looked and can find just 1 and its a small one!,,,i found a bigger 1 of delilah tho!well i asked delilah to remove her post to protect my carolley from hurtfull comments, delilah refused.i can only see either jealousy or cruelty here on delilahs part.so ime sorry praps i was wrong about this site after all.thanks delilah you succeeded .
