Lewinsky graduates from London School of Economics

Wed Dec 20, 2006 6:51 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, whose sexual relationship with U.S. President Bill Clinton led to his impeachment, has graduated from the London School of Economics, her publicist said on Wednesday.

Lewinsky, who was 21 when she became involved with Clinton, is interviewing for jobs in Britain, publicist Barbara Hutson said.

When Lewinsky, 32, received her Masters of Science degree in Social Psychology last Thursday "the audience of students and parents erupted in spontaneous applause. ... It was a very emotional moment for her," Hutson said in a statement.

Hutson said Lewinsky spent the past year studying and "staying away from the London social scene."

She completed a thesis entitled "In Search of the Impartial Juror: An exploration of the third person effect and pre-trial publicity."

Good on her, thats what I say, at least she has been able to move on, even if other people havn't. It would have been fun if she had done her dissertation on "Sex and politics in 21st century America" don't you think? ;)

Oh, I have never slept with anyone I shouldn't have, we both may not have realized it at the time, but I am sure it was all meant to be! :wah:

At least she stopped making designer handbags.

I wouldn't say good on her though. She is someone for other women to watch now, having helped violate another woman by having a form of sex with that woman's husband. He is as much to blame as she is though. We all do foolish things and make mistakes but we pay for them too. She'll never have my respect. And as much as I liked Bill, neither will he. And nor will Hillary because she didn't kick Bill's can to the curb for being an infidel.

Good grief!

This girl was only 21 years old when the President of the United States (who, by all acounts has ENORMOUS personal charisma) had a sexual relationship with her. They were both idiots, but HE is the one we'd have expected to use the best judgement! Neither of them was thinking with their brains, but they're hardly unique in that, are they?

I'd like every female who reads this to ask herself, honestly, if she'd turn him down! I'd like anyone of any gender who reads this to ask themselves honestly if they've never made a personal mistake which became public knowledge and how they'd feel if they were never allowed to forget it.

If she's found a new career and taken herself to a country where personal mistakes are regarded in a more ADULT way than they are here--I say HOORAH for her!

She literally and figuratively screwed up! Because the U.S. is unfortunately saddled in these matters with the maturity level of an adolescent, she's been the subject of a million unfortunate jokes. Let's just give the girl a break, treat her the way WE'D like to be treated, forgive her, and get ON with things!

Oh please! You can't be serious, Flopstock...?! Do you actually think most women would fall all over themselves to fellate another woman's husband who just happens to be the president? I don't! Some would sure. But I like to think a little more highly of my fellow women. And for sure I know I wouldn't have done it as I have more regard for myself than I do for any man. Especially a married one. I take that stuff seriously. Shoplifting is a mistake. Using the wrong fork at dinner is a mistake. Messing wih another woman's man? That's not a mistake, that's just plain wrong no matter how you justify it. I'm not being holy here. I just wouldn't do that to another woman, to myself or any man I might have the slightest amount of respect for.

Like you said, both were at fault but why not give equal blame to Monica? How old do we have to be before we start taking responsibility for what we do?

I take umbrage with your notion that my view of Monica's "personal mistake" is somehow not adult because I actually fault her. I am always amazed at how people in here excuse infidelity with that nonsense about casting the first stone yadayada. How they say "You never know until you've been in that situation..." Well, yeah you can. It's called having standards!

HEY!! MY MISTAKE!! I want to thank a Certain Someone who pointed out that it was not Flopstock who even posted that that I replied to!! Wow, am I embarrassed! :o Lulu, I read what you posted without looking at your avatar and to me, you sounded just like Flop! SoI guess I was talking to you. Poor Flop wasn't even here and I got on my high horse with her. (Although I wasn't arguing ro anything) So thank you to that person who told me what I did, Lulu, I am sorry I failed to address you and FLOPSTOCK, can you ever forgive me? What a jerk, huh? I'm really sorry! :o

I'm leaving it here though because I think I should?? Since I did write it and all. Sorry Guys!!

Well, Glitter, I obviously hit YOUR "UMBRAGE" button. You're entitled to your opinion, of course. I happen to disagree with the idea that Monica should still be soundly condemned for a very youthful and very understandable indescretion.

Bill Clinton was elected to be a good President, and I think he was that. He's guilty of being a poor husband (I believe I indicated that in my post) but, if Hillary can forgive him, so can I.

Many young women have been seduced by powerful, older, experienced men...nothing new there. I just don't think it should define her entire life. There are many worse things. She was used not only by Clinton, but also by her self-serving "friend" who blasted the secret all over the media!

I think enough of my fellow women to stop casting stones and support an effort to move beyond a terrible incident.
