update on the suzy saga

no news yet still waiting for a top doc to spell out the options

she is in the ward from hell in one side four old ladies one senile keeps thinking i'm her son she must be so disappointed in me

on the other side four old ladys all senile all with mrsa supperbug thingy

one old lady keeps letting out blood curdling screams every 10 seconds one just keeps calling the nurse every other minute one keeps saying god please take me god please take me,one of them keeps getting out of bed and crapping on the floor :-1

sue was woken in the middle of the night by one of the old ladys trying to get into her bed yep it had to one of them with mrsa

My mum was diagnosed with MRSA last Thursday,

I though anyone with MRSA were isolated so as not to infect other patients.

Isn't it amazing that staph infections run so rampant in hospitals? You can go in there healthy and get sick

abbey sorry to hear about your mom

sue was supposed to be all bandaged up after her last treatment but they never ,and she was supposed to have this special crem to put up her nose but they never gave her that either its only when one of the other pateints told us we knew anything about it

i have a burn on my arm from work saturday and it gone red and puss filled i'm sh1tt1ng myself it could be mrsa though highly unlikely though

I agree with make noise, and make a LOT of it. Insist Suzy is moved and both of you tested for MRSA. Don't take "no" for an answer.

Jim, there are some steps that you can take to prevent MRSA.

Buy some alcohol hand wash from the chemists to keep by Suzs bed and insist that all staff use it before they touch her. Make sure that no-one sits on her bed. And it may be a bit paranoid but get her some wipes that she can use before sitting on the toilet and for wiping toilet door handles and taps.

I don't want to worry you but MRSA is a real problem, especially with the elderly and those with suppressed immune systems.

Mr GP even said that he was glad I was going private for surgery a couple of years ago because my immune system is rubbish and he didn't want me to get it! I think that speaks volumes for the state of hygiene in the NHS

Jimbo get her off that floor ASAP she should have never been put there to begin with. I don't care if you have to carry her to another floor do it post haste. Someone with a surgical wound needs to be on a floor that is designed to care for surgical patients. :-5

MRSA is nothing to mess around with. If you have an open wound on your arm get it treated please, and covered before you go back to the hospital.

If they won't move her have them treat her from your home. Just get her off that floor.

The US doesn't have the problem with MRSA that european countries have protocol is just a bit tighter here. Of course the big thing is no NHS we are all private or HMO's.

i have just spoken to sue and she says that she complained about the woman getting into her bed the staff says that the woman only has mrsa in her nose and there is no danger

sue k is in ward 1 wexham park hospital slough

is it that bad that i should really risk putting her in the car and taking her home ?

Jimbo yes to an extent she needs to be off that ward an on a surgical unit floor. She doesn't need to be around people with infectious diseases period, she is a surgical patient.

Call her Doctor, or go by the admissions office and explain what has happened have them or a nurse call any, and all her physicians an inform them of this. I'm surprised a Surgical Doctor would have put her on an Infectious disease ward.

there are four people in sue's bit then there is an arch about 10 foot wide by 8 foot high then 15 feet away there are no doors its all open then there are the people with mrsa as lady cop just said one sneeze and everyone is exposed

its very worrying to say the least i will go mad when i go up there i will take some pictures and threaten to go to the papers

this cant be the norm can it is there a nurse or doctor on f g that could clear up this confusion

I'm not a Nurse or a Doctor but I worked in a Hospital for 22 years I was on the Infectious disease committee. Believe me this is not the norm here in the States. Nor should it be the norm there you have people wandering about getting to other patients beds, no doors. RED FLAG WARNINGS EVERYWHERE..

you wont believe how close the mrsa people are to operation pateints

i'll let sue have a sleep 'and if she is up to it she will be online later

sorry i have not been a bit more help but its not my place to say things concerning sue's health if it was me i would not shut up about it

end of the day we could of court mrsa ,sue's back is worse than when she went in ,i have have been driving to and fro from the hospital and now coz she was not happy with the other doc we have to wait a while to see the other one ,thanks for all your kind words

and if so

what did the nurse say :wah: :wah:

its good to have her home

but i cant help thinking of those terrorfied women in there all worried about mrsa before sue left they put a swab in her mouth to check if she has it but they would not do it for me

looking forward to seeing my girl in america now then when i come back we will have sue's bad back 2 the sequil

not looking forward to that when she goes back in i will give out sues hospital number she said bettys call really cheered her up ,thanks to every one who wished her well

i cant stop thinking about this mrsa thing ,though my arm has gone right down and sue had her swab done its so very worrying , why is it so bad in the uk dont they clean our hospitals properly

i did notice the nurses never washed thier hands from patient to patient and surley they should of changed the bed sheets when the old lady got into sue's bed , if it ia an airbourne virus why were ther no doors from the mrsa bit of the ward to stop it spreading to every one else

i hope your mum is ok abbey that must be a total nightmare i cant even imagine how bad you feel ..

Pretty bad hon, i take her to see her consultant today and i intend to wipe the floor with him.

She's stuck in a home with a weeping wound MRSA and the district nurses only feel the need to visit her Mon Wed and Thurs...WTF???

I sat next to her last night and put my arm around her she put her head on my shoulder and asked me to take her home.

abbey i dont think people realise how bad things are it is absolutely terrorfying in there

i have photos of people that had just been visiting a person with mrsa standing less than a foot from someone that had just had surgery on their leg

what can we do about it ,i was thinking about sending the photo's to a newspaper

i went up the hospital with a bee in my bonnet ready to take sue home but she had already told one doctor that she would only be seen by another

is there anything i can do to help you i know this is terrible , i was in tears yesterday it is horrible when your loved ones are in such danger and you can do nothing about it
