Okay, call me crazy, but I really need to get your take on this.
I was eavesdropping on a conversation on the train the other day and it's been bugging me ever since. I heard someone arguing that Ken Lay - the Honcho from Enron - is not really dead. That "his good friend George" wouldn't let him go to prison for the rest of his life and that someone (or something) else was cremated in his place. Then the monetary debt that he would've owed had he lived was fogiven so the family still has all the money??? Then everyone's going to get together on some tropical island and live happily ever after.
So what do you think? Is this even possible? The guy had some pretty convincing arguments and I have to admit it sounded plausible. I am embarrassed and ashamed that I might be persuaded that this could happen with, shall we say, high level cooperation. It's what I get for listening in on a conversation that doesn't belong to me!
Please tell me this is impossible.

Perfectly possible, with high level support, to change identities and walk away.

Seems to me like if the integrity of the government were to be threatened by the case that it would be much harder for them to get away with it...but then again, I don't underestimate the power of money the least little bit.
