flopstock wrote: You folks do realize that our front line defense has been taken out in the last two weeks, don't you?

The very folks who have kept the trolls and whack-jobs at bay for the rest us, are gone. For a while at least.

I have always had fun with the trolls. But, I've been able to have fun and play not so nice, because I know that Snooze and Clancy and Nomad and Val and Arnold have my backside covered. Anyone gets too far out of hand they step up and stand at my shoulder...

And these kids pretty much cover all the angles between them.. gentle reprimand, logic, teasing, sarcasm, verbal smacks... they have always been there when one of us finds someone leaning into our face.

This time was different. This time the good guys didn't come in and save the day. It was the good guys under attack.

I don't have a hard time at all, choosing sides. These are my friends and comrades here in the garden. I like and respect all of them, even when I don't agree with their methods sometimes. If forced to choose, I pick them. Even if not forced to choose, I pick them... every time. And if I have an issue with something they say or do, and I don't think I can let them know my view in a teasing or calm manner, in open forum...I'll PM them.

We don't have moderators, in the traditional sense. What we have are real people, taking care of each other.

I just don't think we kept up our side of that friendship, this time. I think perhaps we let them down far worse then any troll could. I don't have to agree with my friends all the time. But I do need to say, when faced with the choice.. 'I choose you'.

I agree with you...and I really hope they come back, this place isn't the same without them. :(

The trolls aren't gone, Floppy! They're underground, where they're waiting quietly until they've got their next plan together. Egos like those can't tolerate being recognized and sent away. For what it's worth...I've got your back.

I'm hopeful that Tombstone's new principles of ZERO TOLERANCE will help stave off future nonsense by troll attacks. They were organized and they thought they had us. You'll notice they pulled back?

I'm actually more concerned with getting our core people back than worrying about the trolls.

Trolls come and go.

But I want the Fabulous Five to return.

It is about letting down your friends. Which, in this instance, I'm quite sure I did.

I think we did our best in offering support to the Fabulous Five -- I truly do

But let's focus on the here and now

How can we get them back?

tis the missing of some members who have left FG either for good or for a brief spell. There was some serious muck flinging going on among old members (members who have been with the forum for a long time) and some newbies. People were choosing sides and in the end either admin choose to put an end to it all and both the defensive and offensive have left FG or members left on their own accord. I hope it is more like a cooling down departure and folks will return. Many are missed and many were the cornerstones of FG. As well gone are some of our newbies possibly in support of their friends and they are missed as well. Lets hope it's just a breather.

to be acceptable, IME. All will hopefullly be explained.

I'm guilty of benign neglect in the beginning. Frankly I had zero interest in the topics of the threads and didn't bother reading them until we were well into it. And it wasn't until close to the end that it occurred to me that it is all right for me to simply say 'I chose my friend' no questions asked. These other folks are less then nothing to me... and god knows I'd seen no redeeming communication out of them... so very simply..'I choose my friend'

Floppy don't forget during that time you were also our key liason with the family rider and ourselves, you had loads enough on your plate. Don't think for a second you let anyone down, you were doing the best mission possible.

Floppy, that's a good point. Some of the quieter FGers (I mean those that may not have voiced their support or opinion) in here may have agreed with the content but not the form.

I may make myself persona non grata but here goes, besides I'm kinda used to being in the minority opinion on message boards :wah: . I agree that the regulars should stand with the regulars against the attacks of the trolls. However, I see nothing malicious in one friend telling another that they are wrong. I mostly watched the latest episode from the sidelines. Not be an "insider" at FG with close friends on either side, I think I have a pretty objective view of what happened. The FAB FIVE were given tremendous support from their friends here even though they made a mistake. Their intentions were honorable but we all make mistakes from time to time. I don't have a problem telling my friends to back off if they are wrong in an argument and if they get mad at me that is not my problem, I'm just trying to help them in the long run.

I don't understand why these mainstays at FG have left, even for a short time. I know I'm not going to make any friends by saying this but it seems a bit theatrical to me. They had the best interests of FG at heart, and even those that publicly chided them for being wrong understand that. But the vast majority of FGers stood by them through thick and thin and came to their defense. It seems a bit , oh, I can't find the right word, for them to now desert those that supported them. We've had thread after thread of pleas for them to return from their friends. Where are they? Why haven't they returned? I'm not saying this is true (I hope not and I'm sure it isn't), but it gives the appearance of an ego ploy to sit on the sidelines pouting with your arms crossed as your friends plead over and over and beg for you to come back. I'm sure it's not like that but it could give someone that doesn't know them that impression. Seems to me their friends are going to alot of trouble to bring them back and I can't understand why they aren't here yet. If they aren't coming back (and I hope they are) they should say so. If they intend to come back, it's time to put the hurt feelings aside and return to your friends, for your friends' sake if nothing else. Well, that's my $.02

All gardens grow different personalities and temperaments.

Our peacekeepers just wanted the fighting to stop. That *does not* mean that they didn't support our Fab Five. It just means that everyone deals with conflict differently.

I speak my mind.

My husband would have stood beside the folks who wanted it all to just END.

There is no right or wrong. We are all different in our approaches.

I had issues serious enough to step away for a while, with one person -since I joined. And I stepped back, not to pout, but to regain my composure. Once time had put some distance between the moment and myself, I was able to see them for how unimportant they really were in my world, and it just quit bothering me..:D
