Our Chonsi is going through a pain-in-the-neck problem with her house.

I think we should all join The Chonsigirl Club and offer her all the moral support she needs.

I am proud to be a member!

Chonsi has to replace a leaking roof -- and her plate is pretty full already.

I just got an email from our wonderful Val :-4 -- and she had the following suggestion that I'd like to pass on (with her permission

)

I know she is a solid member of her church, maybe

there is a church member she could talk to?

Sometimes, a member is a contractor or something

and can help out another member...

Just an idea for our sweet Chons

Oh, my FG family whom I love so much! How sweet, I feel your good thoughts for me.

I asked around today for roofers, who knows someone good, and also called the church. When I go back to school tonight, several teachers are going to give me some numbers. It is not raining today, so no leaks. There is just one leak in the upstairs living room, I hope it is a patch job. I can teach a zillion lessons a day on many things, but am clueless when it comes to home projects like this.

I like Floppy's detention, put them to work!

You guys just beat me to it. (Just read this thread) I was going to say something similar. My Folks live in FL, & their home was demolished by Hurricane Frances back in 04. They finally just moved back in to their house "March of this year"! Anyway, they still needed some finishing work to be completed. But the insurance money ran out. So anyway in the church they attend, it was mentioned that there was a "Kinghts of Columbus" org in that church. Then it was said, that this org has a group of experienced carpenters, electricians, roofers, landscaping, professionals that were "donating" their time to help out Hurricane victims in their parish. My folks just paid for the "materials" needed, & these generous men provided the labor to get the job finished. So maybe it's worth checking it out chonsi to see if there is any such org in your parish. (Can't hurt to check)

Oh, thank you for all your good wishes. The roofer came by to give me an estimate, just under $500. I can afford that! And the man two doors down came over when he saw the roofer, and went up to check it out too. Then took him over to his place, he lost as many shingles last weekend too! But they will fix it hopefully by the first of the week, and no rain in sight until then................

(How'd I miss this thread?) I'm not a roofer...but I make great dips and drinks for the ROOF PARTY! Crab puffs, anyone? Stuffed 'shrooms?
