Tamsen did it!!

Well our girl finally got her certificate... she is now a member of the

GSDCA's (German Shepherd Dog Club of America) "Thirteen Club"!!

Had to fill out forms and submit things like a copy of her AKC registration

and a 4 generation pedigree.

This club is for gsd's 13 years old or older, and they sent us a really

nice "suitable for framing" (we won't bother doing that!) thing looks

kind of like a diploma. They are basically getting together a large

database of gsd's and longevity, health problems, bloodlines...

The only sad part was they also send you (I didn't know this beforehand)

a card to send in when the gsd "Crosses over the Rainbow Bridge". :-1

But at least our girl has made it this far, battle with cancer and all!!

I don't think I ever learned how Tamsen got her name. Did you ever tell us?

I might have said but a search would probably be longer than just

saying it again...

She was named after Tamsen Donner of the Donner Party. A very,

very brave lady who was loyal to her husband, turned down a

couple of chances at rescue from the Sierras to stay with him

when he was very ill. She did end up losing her life.

She just had very good qualities, I wanted those qualities in my

pup and boy I sure got 'em. And out of 188,691 dogs on Dogster

(today's count!) she's still the only Tamsen!
