Post by Bez »

In the last 12 months, I have either stumbled upon or been directed to many other Forums.

I have signed up with a couple of 'specialist' forums ( Buddhist, Gardening).

Some of the forums 'out there' are the 'pits' and the people are evil.

Appreciate what you have here folks...in my opinion you wil not find a better 'General Forum' on the internet. Cherish what we have here and respect the members...this is a fantastic place. :-6

Forum Garden was my first, and since then I've seen that it's the best. I tried to quit and failed. I visited other forums and felt like a visitor. There is rich variety here.

It's like one of those huge gardens that have hedges separating things into wonderful rooms of color, each more interesting than the previous one.

Good thread, Bez. :yh_flower

FG was my first forum also, I've looked at a few others but they dont look as friendly, maybe I havn't looked enough or maybe I just dont want to but I've come to the conclusion that FG is the BEST. Its more than just a forum its part of my life. and I've made a lot of friends here, I know I dont post as often as most but I'm here as much. usually in the arcade. or just reading.

Wow that was a serious post for me. :wah: I'm going back to the arcade.

No way! I've stepped on that landmine before.

she: Worse? Such as?

me: Oh I don't know ... *tosses a couple of worse things off the top of my head*

she: So you've thought of doing that?

me: (apprehensively) Huh?

she: How long have you harbored these secret thoughts?

me: :-2 Not long ... I mean ... I don't have secret thoughts.

she: So you've told someone else? Who is it you prefer to share your innermost thoughts with over me?

me: *ducking for cover* I don't prefer to share!

she: So you do have secret thoughts? You've lied to me? What else have you lied about?

*away I slide down a slippery slope into the proverbial dog house*

* of course, this post is entirely in jest and in no way reflects the reality of our relationship ..... no, really!*

I will have to agree with Bez here. I belong to one specialty forum, for small pet owners and have been there a couple of years, and am now one of the moderators. It is a great forum. But this is the first general interest forum I have come to in a long while that I have even considered staying with. I think the format of the forum is very user friendly and the wide range of people here are great! I enjoy the range of topics here. I may not activally participate in all the subjects, but have had several hours of good reading so far.:-6

Since I first came across this forum, it has become my second home and my second family. I have been on Delphi and I have entertained a UK forum. I have not come across a forum that has such a broad spectrum of subjects and members as this one.

The specialist subjects in this forum are just as dedicated to the subject as a forum dedicated to that subject. But, here, it is more accessible to the general user. But then, you can take a break with your "class mates" in one of many light threads or have a "drink" and a shindig in the pub.

To be honest, though, I get very little time to relax. Nonetheless, I usually check in here every day. Even if I've nothing to contribute, it's good to read what's been going down. I usually feel a lot lighter for the experience.

Recently, there have been some rabid arguments. This has darkened the tone of the forum somewhat much to my dismay. However, I have been encouraged by the efforts of the members to bring things back on course. This is a clear sign of the immense love that exists between the members of this forum. That the forum has come through such a dark period shows its strength as well as its passion.

Long live the FG and all that sail in her.

Forum Garden was not only my first forum.. it was my first computer, internet experience. What an incredible experience it has been. Laughing, sharing.. feeling for each other. MEETING EACH OTHER. Incredible. And all of the family who couldnt come, and stayed at "Home" shared in the adventure with us. I am going to meet more of you also. I dont like the fighting because it diminishes our great place. I know though that like cream the loyal. intelligent and sensitive members float to the top. Trouble mongers dont last . It takes integrity and insight to remain a member here. I wouldnt go anywhere else. I love it here and I love many of you. Many of you have become my extended family also.

Actually, my wife found FG for me. She went on line to look for help for me, as she saw the extreme stress & anxiety that was making me extremely physically and mentally sick. I was getting ready to "retire" (after working 45 years) at the end of 2004, and could not mentally handle it. She was looking for someplace on line that I could share my feelings with various people from all walks of life. People that might have had the same feelings, fears, anxiety, and to discuss it to shed some light on how they handled it. Thank God she stumbled on FG. I was reluctant to join FG, but Join I did. And as it turned out, FG was the "LIFE-LINE" that I needed, to help me from "sinking" into the depths of deep depression and mental anguish! For me FG was a LIFE-SAVER!!!

There were so many nice people here in FG (Just a few that quickly come to mind: BabyRider, Greydeadhead, CARLA, gmc, Suresh Gupta, Peg, valerie, lottomagic, Akarena) that gave me their personal life's experiences, and shared how they, or how their relatives handled retirement.

With the encouragement, insite, and advise from my FG family, I was able to cope with getting through what was an extremely difficult (emotionally scary) time for me. LONG LIVE the FG family!!! :)

(PS: Side note: Now, I'm loving retirement, I was sooooo scared for absolutely nothing at all. So Bez, I think I remember you're getting close, you'll love it to)

FG is the best. Plain and simple, the best forum I've seen. And I've seen a LOT of forums. There is no other place that has the family feel this place does, or the true friendships that have been formed among so many of us.

We may not always agree and get along like angels, but....what family does? I can argue with spot about something in one thread and call him a big dumb jerk and then in another thread laugh hysterically at something he says. I can argue a point in one place, and have fun with the same people in another. Nope, no place is better than FG. I'm here for good. (If I can keep my ass from getting banned!!! :yh_rotfl )
[FONT=Arial Black]I hope you cherish this sweet way of life, and I hope you know that it comes with a price.
