What will the 90's be remembered for?
What will the 1990's be remembered for, in your opinion. We all seem to attribute different decades to different struggles, epochs in thought, cultural revolutions.
In the 60's the sexual revolution and the civil rights movement
The 70's brought long hair and anarchism
The 80's brought the Disco
What did the 90's bring???

i think the 90s can be summed up in the phrase "Bish Bosh, loads of dosh". It was the decade of the Yuppies. A completely new social class who could never be deterred from their course or suffer depression except for when they lost financial value. They worshipped money and all its trappings. As far as I know, they still do, but I don't come across them nowadays.
It was also the era of sexual expansion when all the pervs came out of their closets.

Indeed. The Internet. I forgot about that. And mobile phones. I'm sure they were created just for the yuppies. [I'M ON THE TRAIN!] But they didn't really become refined until this decade when broadband became more available.
Each decade is remembered for something, but this is always the peak of it. It's starting point is always the decade before.
As for the pervs, when they came out of their closets, it helped everyone to start to come to terms with their own sexuality. British TV has reflected this shift in attitudes to sex by documenting pornography, prostitution, swinging, S&M, and so on.

"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

In the 60's the sexual revolution and the civil rights movement
The 70's brought long hair and anarchism
The 80's brought the Disco
What did the 90's bring???
Well, not quite. 60s brought long hair and "anarchism." 70s brought disco. 80s (basically) brought us punk rock and "new wave."
90s IMO brought us precious little, at least culturally. eg music dominated by "boy bands" and rap. :barf: And this thing of bands forming and immediately breaking up , what the - ? Fashion wasn't any better. Tatoos, "goth," piercing dang near anything, and apparently brushes and combs became hated grooming items.
Sorry, I just abhorred the 90s. Tackiness, vulgarity, and a generally severe lack of quality and identity (other than what I just mentioned) seemed to rule the day. Sadly, it hasn't gotten any better in this decade.
