Blast Traps 13 Miners In W. Va.
Twelve miners were trapped more than a mile underground today after an explosion in a coal mine in Upshur County, West Virginia, officials said. Six miners made it out after the blast. There has been no communication with the trapped workers, said Steve Milligan, deputy director of the county's office of emergency management. "There's no indication at this point whether they are alive or not."

You would think there was more safety in mining. I feel for their families. I know darn good and well these men knew the peril going in there and they are caretaking each other with their last breaths. Ihope they come home alive.

A false report was sent out that the remaining 12 miners had survived. The families celebrated and rejoiced for 3 hours before finding out that only one was actually still alive. They've been through hell twice now. How sad is that?

That was one of the saddest things I have ever read-to be told their family member was alive, then find out hours later they were dead.
