What's considered a waste of time?
HI
People I work with and friends either dont have a computer and stare at the soaps on TV all day, and those that do prefer web-cams to forums, I tried a web-cam but found it to be full of people who want to be disgusting in all the ways you can immagine.
I spend all my spare time on here, nobody will change that.

And what are these forums? Just out of interest. Not that I would sign up or anything.:sneaky:

The customers where I work seem to think that computers are for meeting people of the opposite sex. They have no clue that there are other uses for computers.:wah: When I try to explain a discussion we've had here or on another board, they look at me like I'm crazy.

Being self-centered, racist, narrow minded, unfriendly are all a waste of time. I love my Computer and have made new friends on it, learned about other peoples cultures and opinions. Now that couldn't be a waste of time in my opinion. Always the optimist Jen xx:o

one mans pleasure is another mans waste of time.
Snooze you just direct your attention in different way than your co-workers. I would rather be on my computer or reading a book or listening to music, or be outdoors, than watching TV. I thinks much of todays TV programs are an utter waste of time. Anything that expands my brain capacity or improves my physical being is good for me, anything that reduces my brain or physical being to a sofa blob is a waste of time.

The internet is a totally valid way to interact with people. I've definately learned more from a computer screen than I have from staring at Fox all night.

There are so many choices with the computer.....learn, laugh, communicate, shop, bank etc. 99% of TV is rubbish.
I have also found people that think message boards and forums are for perverts.... how wrong they are (and ignorant).
Waste of time ??? stuck in traffic jams, queuing in shops, drinking until your paraletic, staying in bed past 6.30am, getting mad, selling over the phone, staying INDOORS in the summer.......

As well it was thought at one time those who sat on the internet had anit-social tendancies. Until upon further examination they found us to be very social creatures. Maybe a little broader in the hip but very social.

I don't give two hoots about what other people think about my activities. As long as I'm not hurting someone, it's my own business.

Waching brainless TV is a waste of time, much more beneficial to chat and explore the internet.
Waiting for people who are late is a huge waste of my time I get so angry when people don't turn up on time and I could have been doing things instead

Yet on the other hand, many of these same people can spend hours talking about what they watched on television the night before. And we're not talking about PBS either... its "Fear Factor" or some other reality TV crap.
I'm just wondering when internet junkies will finally get some respect.:-2
do you ever get "the look" when you mention that you've met people who you met online? Like the internet's the spawn of satan? Let's face it, you can meet nutters every day, they just hide it well.
I consider "ladies who lunch" to be a waste of time. nothing better to do than spend their husband's money.

I get "the look" all the time from friends and family! They seem to think I spend all my time chatting up men on here!! I'm sure my Mum thinks I'm going to move over to America and desert my children!! :wah:

I get that too...if only it were so, lol.
it's hard to explain the difference between a message board and "chat rooms" to parents.
I'm on my own with three kids, I work full time and this is my little bit of winding down time.

I was going to give a big thumbs down to lines at places like the DMV and other government offices. No wonder I always forget to do things like renew my license ...
.
Thumbs up to meeting people online. Definitely not any stranger than any other way a person makes friends!
