Sorry, non sequitur.
I am pretty sure they declared re-using old grease carcinogenic....that is...it causes certain cancers. But what doesn't these days??? Anyway, here is something on it.....read down under where is says "Ingredients that can cause malignant tumors".......

and by the way, my parents always saved the bacon grease too.

I have a big cup on the stove I pour the grease in. Bacon grease and grease from frying hamurger. Only reason I pour it in a cup is to let it cool so later I can dispose of it. I never pour grease in the sink drain. And I dont want to pour hot gease into the trash can since it might possibly leak thru the can liner.
I do use bacon grease at times right then when I fry bacon if I want to make bacon gravy. I recall once the government was going to force meat packers to no add some sort fo perservative to bacon or cold cuts since they said they were carginigenic if fried. But the meat packers said they would just have to stop making bacon. Something to do with the reaction to high heat. Not sure why on cold cuts.

Stressing over carcinogens causes cancer.

At our house we keep the butter in an uncovered dish in the microwave. Sometimes we also like to shake up our own and eat it right then...mmmm. And yes peanut butter is a god send, I can't imagine any little kid not liking it- in fact when I was growing up I used to eat it right out of the jar with a spoon! it was my favorite! My mom always bought me the Goo as well that I liked to eat in the same way- the strawberry kind (I only like strawberry- grape is yuck).
