In the case of Veet Man, it looks like the razor slipped. Don't think he's got what it takes at all ... And on that note - I'm off to git my first cofffeeeee of the day ...

If it only took a slip of a razor to loose it he couldn't have been much of a man anyway! Unless it was a cut-throat!

I've heard some scurrilous and totally untrue of course tales of where men keep their brains... but never suspected they keep their throats in that area too. Very deep, BB. Grin.

The only way to get to know anyone is by taking time. You can spend a lifetime, and still, you won't know everything about that person. And, sometimes, you can know someone all your life, and feel that you know them less now than you did before.

Sometimes we can say something meaning one thing, and another person can take it the wrong way. This has happened to me. And it's easy to panic and make things worse.

I am sure that everyone here has good intentions, but it is impossible to live life worrying about what the other person thinks. It is more important to be yourself and to express yourself to the best of your ability.

It's like the old saying. When someone knocks at your door or rings your telephone, say God Bless before answering.

If someone gets up your goat so badly as to raise your ire, go away, take a deep breath and think about something else. Try and find another way of explaining yourself.

Insults are self-deprecating and they place you in a bad light. Have you ever experienced watching two people giving it hammer and tongs at each other. How did they appear to you? When you are having a slanging match with someone, that's exactly how you appear too when you have a slanging match with someone. No one enjoys watching two people at each other's throat. It's scary. It demeans the spirit. No one suffers more than the people at loggerheads. It's their blood pressure that is rising, it's their hearts that are pounding for life. It's dangerous, this kind of stress is physically damaging to the self.

Better to go away and mull it over. Eventually, you'll see the light. Go and scream at the wall. Then take some deep slow breaths and forget about what the other person said. It just ain't worth twisting your knickers and risking your health.

Every time your adrenaline kicks in, you are in a fight or flight choice situation. Adrenaline takes so much energy from your body, your are seriously risking your life if you prolong it. Let it go. Wisdom dictates that you choose flight over fight every time and only choose fight if flight is not an option.

I can be riled. I was riled by a derogatory statement not long ago. Acknowledge your feelings. Say Bless You, and say what you want to say civilly. There are so many different people here from all 4 corners of the world, misunderstandings are bound to happen. Geez, we encounter misunderstandings with our neighbours, let alone someone from a different culture.

Sometimes, a person is being obviously insulting. There is absolutely no question about it. There is absolutely no need to get stressed out and insult them back. The stress hurts your body. And isn't that the kind of reaction that they want They've got at you and you have responded in such a manner that they know they've hit where it hurts.

Leave it. Walk away. Tell them that you are offended, by all means, then just ignore them. They'll stop when they find they are banging their heads against a brick wall for nothing.

Now. I have only read the opening post written by Pants. If this thread has moved on and my post here is out of context, please forgive me. I just hope that my contribution might help someone.:-6

Love to all of you.

I am just so grateful that I have been able to make so many friends through this forum.:-4

I think, not 100% positive, but I'm fairly certain that you'd have to re-register in order to change your username, Susan. But what is wrong with Susan?

Well, never said I did not like it, just did not get it. The thre gents you mentioned are pretty cool...and I find myself reading alot of what they have to say.

I guess what I meant about not "getting" the humor, and leaving it alone is that if I cannot translate it in my head, to figure where the humor lies, I do not try to respond in kind...but I still love our British members and will listen, but if I ever come back with a blank stare, just remember I am one of those Yanks who does not always understand.

Speaking of funny...one of the funniest "foriegn" words I have ever heard is "vegemite" . I do not know why, I just like that word, and smile every time I hear it. I am told I would probably not like the stuff if I tried it...but I like the word.

OK, that is another goofy bit of info about me.
