does your name come from the book "life swap" by jane green? its one of her characters, good book but i felt that the end should have included the actual article to tie it all up, maybe its left open for a life swap 2

My name comes from something dreamed up after over imbibing whiskey.
Hugh, because it sounds much better than Cedric
And Janus, because I was born in January, which is named after the Roman god Janus. Here is what a mythology site has to say about Janus...
Janus is the Roman god of gates and doors (ianua), beginnings and endings, and hence represented with a double-faced head, each looking in opposite directions. He was worshipped at the beginning of the harvest time, planting, marriage, birth, and other types of beginnings, especially the beginnings of important events in a person's life. Janus also represents the transition between primitive life and civilization, between the countryside and the city, peace and war, and the growing-up of young people.
So you see, My name means lots of things.
Any other meaning is purely coincidental.

I'm so glad you explained that Huge!!!! When I first met you - and before I realised you were well-related.. grin - I thought you'd spilled over, so to speak, from one of the kids' forums. All on accounta the name! They all seem to have huge somethings in those chatspots and it's not brains. I'm glad I was wrong. Also, of course, your posts were very much not monosyllabic grunts either. (Pam breaks into a massed choir chorus in deepest Welsh concerning how green was her unrefrigerated butter).

Many thanks for the kind words people.
Remember, you should not judge a book by the cover.
However, if there are semi naked women draped over the cover, then you can take a safe bet that it's not a prayer book.
Oh. A.P. Please keep the noise down dear. The local dog population is wishing to join in, and the hangover is about to kick in...

Oh brother ! Misha all you had to do was apologize to a nice lady, and it would have been done with. We've all had to apologize for one thing or another here. Its no big deal. Now look what you've done, you took a simple thing and turned it into a big mess. I suspect you have trouble deciphering reality from "Misha World"

What I'd like to know is how we managed to take this whiney, "woe is me" post and allow it to run for 60 replies. Seems kinda stupid to me....jusy my humble opinion.
Whoops...opinions are not allowed in this thread, are they? My bad.

I think Mishas a dude ( in love for 30 years with a lady)
Personally, I don't mind having my intelligence insulted. It makes me feel brighter than I actually am.....is that so wrong?

Here in America, most kids wear low rise jeans with a belly shirt.

Oh my gosh! They would revolt again to wear uniforms like that here. But I do prefer uniforms in public schools, it is not a popular idea though for the majority of schools.

Y'know, Chons, there is something to be said for uniforms. It takes away the social pressure for kids to have the 'latest, greatest' clothing. It removes peer pressure in the area of appearance.
And that is a good thing.

My kids all went to a school that had a uniform, though a bit less intimidating than the bluecoats. I think it was a great idea. Avoided all the pain of whether you looked cooler than everyone else. Also much quicker to get into in the morning. And when they got home they could then put on low rise jeans and revealing tops. Kinda like work clothes and play clothes.
This crossed with your post Cher. My kids went to a mix of public and private schools. I think almost all aussie schools have uniforms.

The school I taught at in California had uniforms, blue pants/skirts, white blouses/shirts. It was a positive thing. I always wore one too, and added a fashion item to it, so the girls would get ideas hot to look pretty wearing a uniform. A lovely scarf, some brooches, something to frill it up. Made going to work easy for me! About 1/2 of the teachers wore the uniform too.
