We recentlly saw an ad on TV called Slow Cooker Solutions put out by McCain (sp?) and it is a frozen crock pot dinner. Tonite it is Chicken Cactiorrie (sp?).
I am always on the look out of crock pot recipes because I am an hour or so commute from work, and don't feel like doing a lot of cooking after I get home. Has anybody tried these yet? Will let you all know what it is like.

Well, I don't think I will try that again. It was a little too dry for me, although it had pretty good flavour (they said to put in one cup of water with the frozen mixture), I would suggest maybe putting in 1/2 cup more water and adding some basic spices like salt and pepper. They make two other types of these dinners, so will try the other two some day soon.

HI moonpie
I love using my huge crockpot to make meals - i freeze most of it for use later.
So far i have made chicken lamb and beef dishes, but I have heard that you can make baked potatoes and cookies in it so i am going to try some other recipes.
Tonight's dinner is spaghetti with bolognaise sauce(out of a packet).I wonder if you can make spghetti dishes in the slowcooker?Like you i am thinking that i will start using the slowcooker so that there is a cooked dinner when i get home from work, but if i start doing that i would want a bit a variety in what i make.

Dessert was German chocolate cake or chocolate covered cherry cheesecake, which I made and brought, or my dad wasn't going to allow me in the house. :wah:

HI L&M, after we moved further out from the city (where I work) a friend gifted me with a cookbook for slow cookers only. It is called "Fix it and Forget it"; by Dawn J. Rank and Phyllis Pellman Good. It has everything in it, and has good recipies too. It has also given me a few good ideas to do other things. It is definitely worth it.

We are having left overs from Christimas dinner. We had a butterball stuffed turkey breast. It was really good. This was the 2nd turkey breast we have had, and I must say the Butterball was the best of the two. I would really watch it though, the package says 4 and 1/2 hours and we had it out by 3 1/2 hours. A meat thermometer is really handy for this, since you put it in the oven frozen.

I bought one of these recently. I thought Id shred it for sandwiches and use some over mashed potatos w/ gravy.
So it goes in frozen ?
Thats what the directions say ?

Ill make chile again tomorrow. I never make it during the green months so I get my fill during the white ones. I prefer ground chuck though. Big chunky chunks. With kidney beans, pinto beans and navy beans. And fire roasted tomatoes. And cornbread. And grated sharp cheddar cheese on top.

We are such layed back people. We hardly believe in traditions. I guess you can say that we "just don't give a damm". We just had chicken wings with a couple of drinks watching Canucks VS Calgary, and I have some pulled pork for pulled pork sandwiches later. Not very traditioinal, huh?
I remember when I used to live in Texas. We used to have black-eyed peas and cornbread at midnite. My poor ex-mother-in-law would flip in her grave. None the less, she still loved me when she passed away.
