Since you are all just loving this butter thread and it just seems to keep "hopping" along......

An activity to do with children ....to MAKE homemade BUTTER....

Pour 1 cup of HEAVY whipping cream into a clean jar with plenty of room to spare inside.

Have children sit in a circle and take turns shaking the jar as they pass it around.

It won't take long and the cream will turn into butter inside. The longer they shake the more solidified it will become. Eventually all the cream will have turned into .............................

BUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will start another thread on things you can do with the butter when finished....

just kidding.

You're welcome! Yes I do believe that could complete the thread.....a nice way to end it. But then....what would Nomad do??? LOL

She did it! She really, really did it! Lady Cop killed the butter!

Poor butter. Look at it laying there all yellow and still. LC! You need to make funeral arrangements, and fast --- before it turns rancid...............

When I buy butter on sale, I freeze the extra pounds. The opened container is stored in the refrigerator. Butter for spreading should be soft.

During the warm months, I try to have a little soft butter in the cupboard. If I feel the butter has been sitting out too long during hot weather, I'm afraid to use it.

During the cooler months, I will let it sit in the cupboard for many days without fear of using it. I really don't eat that much butter anyway, but my spouse does.

Butter to be tossed into boiling water or melted in a fry pan can come straight out of the refrigerator or freezer without a problem.

We used to have a Siamese cat that would jump on the counter to lick the butter when no one was watching. It got so we had to check for scratchy cat tongue marks on the butter before using it if we accidentally left it out.

Why do advertisers always claim that their margerine tastes just like butter, but you never hear that butter tastes just like margerine?

That doesnt surprise me a bit Arnold, considering your keen interest and vast knowledge of the butter world. Have you ever considered a light spread of butter on one piece of toast and jam on the second ?

What about turkey sandwiches ? Butter ?

...and this should ruffle a few feathers.....

the answer to your question....because there are actually people that have no taste buds and therefore prefer margerine's flavor over butter!!!!!!
