McDonalds has little pats of butter (okay, margarine) in little plastic packs. Ask for them. They're pretty good with fries.

I saw it the first time in a Japanese bar. They served thick-sliced fried potatoes with a big pat of butter right in the middle. It was free, like we serve a small bowl of peanuts or something. Two or three firsts for me all at once!

We call them 'frittars or fritters' usually served in 2 slices of buttered bread. :-6

I actually switch from Margarine to Butter after reading the ingredients on Margarine. I prefer Salt free Butter, no particular reason just like the taste better I guess.. :D

Butter didn't used to have to be refigerated because people hadn't heard of all the bacteria that can get on these kinds of foods. Personally I don't think butter on bread isn't even good unless it's at room temperature, and no microwave either, has got to be gently softened at room temp (just shut me up at any time--yack yack). Actually not really I eat the most horrendous foods most days.

Well here is what you do you keep it fresh. Like someone said keep it in a butter dish on the counter. Well you make your butter fresh everyday in a butter churn. You could shake cream in a jar as well (I think, not too sure on this, you'd have to ask a dairy farmer :-3)

I think the same could be said for peanut butter. I don't like to refigerate mine because it's not spreadable anymore when cold. But the jar says to refigerate. I'd like to just have a peanut butter grinder in the house :wah:.

Butter

Butter, like love,

seems common enough

yet has so many imitators.

I held a brick of it, heavy and cool,

and glimpsed what seemed like skin

beneath a corner of its wrap;

the decolletage revealed

a most attractive fat!

And most refined.

Not milk, not cream,

not even creme de la creme.

It was a delicacy which assured me

that bliss follows agitation,

that even pasture daisies

through the alchemy of four stomachs

may grace a king's table.

We have a yellow bowl near the toaster

where summer's butter grows

soft and sentimental.

We love it better for its weeping,

its nostalgia for buckets and churns

and deep stone wells,

for the press of a wooden butter mold

shaped like a swollen heart.

SOSP 2005 Song (aka The Butter Song)

Written in England

:-5

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

The cow could be from Jersey

Or from the Isle of Man;

The cow could be from the Lake Country

Where it lives with stiff élan;

The cow could be from Ely

Or from fair Cambridge too;

The cow could’ve been from Milton Keynes

Where it stood around in its own poo.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

The grass that made this butter

Was chewed down into cud

By a cow named Bessie or Nessie or Nell

Descended from aristocratic blood.

But from whence comes this peerage?

But where pray did she chew?

I asked the maître d’ but he laughed at me

And on further pressing said **** you.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

This butter was made

By the churning of a maid

Who was severely underpaid

In pence and lemonade,

Though long before she knew

How much milking she would do

The cow digested through

Her four stomachs

A chunky clot of grass

In a fibrous sticky mass

That dissolved into a gas

That she passed out through her ass.

But the nutrients remained

Due to hormones in her brain;

Down they traveled in a train

To her udder,

Which filled up to the brim

With a liquid form of vim

Congealed by the maid

Into lipids on parade,

A party on the tongue

And also in the tum,

The very taste of yum

For which the angels hum

Hosannas and succumb –

But where’d the cow come from?

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

This butter was made in the udder of a cow but we don’t know where the cow was from.

It’s a conundrum!

Refrigerate in the summer or it gets really yukky

Don't refrigerate in the winter.

I buy butter when it's on sale like when it's 3 lbs for $5.00 and freeze it.
