Al J live blog. This is the best source of info I have found yet. Apparently the army is disintegrating and splitting up into factions, this could end up like Iraq.

I wouldn't like to say it would go as far as an invasion by a foreign power just yet. What I was referring to was a civil war, apparently there are 3 main tribes and some smaller ones in the country. Gadaffi kept himself in power and stability by balancing interests between these tribes. It looks as if all of this is going to fall apart. There was a blurb about Gadaffis son ordering the bombing of military facilities in other tribal areas. There apparently is a lot of hardware (tanks, artillery you name it) and ammunition sitting around, a lot of Libyan males have military experience. Libyan reps at the UN are asking for foreign intervention, they see it coming.
I think gas is going to get real expensive here very soon, especially in Europe.

It's already expensive £1.32 a litre here which I make to be over $2 a litre - you have that funny mini gallon but even so that must be around $5 a US gallon - it's late at night so my arithmertic mey be out.

It's going to be a lot harder for the west to go in for behind the scenes manipulation to get in a government that supports their interests. Activity aimed at De-stabilising a newly democratic country will be a lot harder to conceal. Saudi next do you reckon?

No, not Saudi Arabia, I don't think it will fall at all. Perhaps Yemen or Bahrain, the revolution seems to have lost its steam for now. Irans demonstrations were crushed outright and Algeria seems to have a handle on things when it comes to keeping the peace. It could see problems though, I don't know much about the real life situation there.

Seems they are trying to stave off trouble.

What is noticeable in tunisia and egypt is the number of women involved in the protests. Maybe that's what it takes to get things really moving.
Be interesting to see if the new democratic governments decide to nationalise the oil fields. This time the west might not find it so easy to overthrow them and put in their puppets.

That's easy enough to understand. Wouldn't you be pissed iff at the last ten years if you were iraqui? But it looks as it's aimed at the iraqui government rather than the americans. Seeing other countries where people are protesting against their government and making a difference would inspire anyone. Let's face it if there are mass demonstraions in irag there is no way using armed force and live bullets to disperse demonstators will be feasible. It's a good sign - we take the right to protest and emonstrate for granted, this is a new phenomrnon in the middle east. It's also harder for fundamentalists to get control as well when ordinary people think they can protest and stand up to them.

It looks like Gadaffi and his people are dug in like badgers. He was bombing Brega apparently trying to knock out a military store house and there were reports of a chopper shooting up a radio station. It seems the rebels have lost their steam and therefore the initiative. Infos hard to come by. It's not likely there'll be a lot of help from the outside world either.
