QUESTION for young adults??

Post by southern yankee »

My daughter is 26. very pretty and smart. she tells me often that she just thinks there is just losers out there. She has not really been in a deep relationship since she was a senor in high school. i use to think she was too picky. but the more young men i meet. the more i believe she may be right. Are other young women having this problem???:-3

ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Yup.......

I'm 34 next birthday. I've been single for the longest time. I am told I'm too picky.

Most of the guys I meet are.......less than desirable. A lot of my friends are married with kids and they often ask why I am still single.

It's slim pickins out there and I refuse to settle for someone just for the sake of it.

I'm happy with my life for now - I enjoy my freedom :D:-6
Very nearly perfect ... :D

Hoss;963293 wrote: What is it she's looking for in a mate? I think I'm picky, but then the girl I like is my friend’s sister and I have known her for 5 years now. We have had lots of times when we were together in groups and family and church social settings but not really alone. I consider her wife material, she's perfect in many regards, but I don't know if she is the one yet. There are other girls that I could like but she's the only one that gives me that special spark inside. One girl kind of throws herself at me and it's embarrassing to me. I try to avoid her but she's in my social group and I have to associate with her at times. I get nervous around the girl I like and I think she can feel that I like her; she has said as much to me and tries to get me to relax and not worry about if other people look at us. I sit with her in church, and we went to a social dining event together and that made others in our church realize we were a little more than just group friends. I’m trying to just be friends with her for now and maybe later it will grow in time. I have to get myself through college and get a house before I can really consider marriage. you are thinking smart. having your feet on the ground. (house, college, job)but if she is the one. let her know your plans. she may not know how you feel. About what my daughter is looking for is a man, not a boy. noone she has to hold their hand. a go getter. plus a job would help.she has a thing for large men. meaning she does not like SKINNY MEN.

I'm 25 (guy) and I frequently intentionally find problems with girls...it's probably the same thing. It's a defense mechanism so you don't get hurt...because if you tell yourself you don't care then nothing bad can happen. She prob got her heart broken when she was 16 or something...

This is what I see as the begining of realization of what love is and its differance to that of attraction. As most of us me included as teens we had a very conflicting view. On one side we have this traditionally passed down cultural notion that an out side force is going to pre-destin two people to love each other, and on the other side we have the natural genetic process passed giving us the way humans as animals choose mates such as a "nice ass" "big brest" in women, and the tall dark and handsome male, add in the more modern sense of security we get from economic sucsess of prospective mates and we have the more modern Ideal of what the modern man or woman we want in a mate. As we use our naturalistic selection processes to pick mates we add in the cultural notion of love and we think that this unseen power of fate is going to keep the ones we choose as mate with us through thick and thin. As we get more mature with relationships we begin to realize that we are the ones that have to work hard especialy metnally to make a relationship work, and both people in the relationship have to work just as hard to keep a relationship toghether. As we realize this we also come to the understanding that not everyone understands that both people in the relationship have to work hard to keep it going. and we understanding that some people still believe that despite things like infidelity, dishonesty, and/or abuse love will triumph. I believe that as we come to a realization that it takes a deep mental understaning, unspoken trustworthyness, and a strong will to supress the naturalistic urge to mate, we become frustrated that others don't see this and beging to have a lack of faith in the system of mating that is currently the soicieties standard.
