Ive just now returned from a specialist. An ENT. Dont ask what that is, its complicated and not really meant for the non-medical mind.
Be sure, this isnt the kind of medical practitioner Id ever want any of you to have to see. No siree.
The prognosis is grim.
Ill come right out with it. Im suffering from severe chronic untreatable Anosmia.
Again I dont really want to go into all of the horrid little details. Right now Im in shock and will begin my greiving process shortly.
I hope that all of you can grieve with me in your own special way.
No pity please, but if tears flow then so be it.

I had total seasonal anosmia for thirty years and then one year it didn't just come back and I've never had it since. I haven't a clue why. It was the strangest thing suddenly being able to smell flowers for the first time since I was at school.

So young, so bright. The bulb that was always lit, even when it was the middle of the night and the cat kept crying to get out, and the neighbor threw an old shoe over the fence. You held them back, in the weakness of the moment, using the last ounce of your strength. Will the sun ever shine again!
Did I cry enough? Will you leave me your motorcycle?

Don't despair--------IT'S TREATABLE----don't laugh, but this sure fire cure was passed down to me from a knowledgeable gnome from Nevada.
Get a bottle of 100 proof Wild Turkey, two small dead garter snakes diced, one persimmon, two lemons, cup of sugar, oatmeal , two cups of well water.-------mix all the ingredients together except the Wild Turkey. Leave the mixture in the hot sun for three days and then throw it away as the sun sets. Then------and this is the best part--------drink two straight shots of the Wild Turkey and continue every eight hours until the bottle is finished. You should be able to smell anything after completing all these steps. If not------repeat.

I couldnt tell the difference between a peach and turpentine.

-1 I know it seems bad but it is curable. My sister suffered with this for years off and on. When she finally got the proper treatment for her asthma bingo she could smell again. The ENT all work together and other things can cause your nose(smeller) to go whacky..
You will get it back just hang tough.

My previous advice still stands:

Since your problem started with a topical application, not a random, unknown event, you might try using a neti pot (rinsing your sinuses with saline) or taking a tea with herbs that soothe the sinuses and membranes... I usually combine hyssop and mullein and throw in some nettles to support the self healing process.
There was a class action suit against the product manufacturer. Not sure how that affects any future cases against them.
