OMG! I just checked them three days ago and my little seedless watermelon plants were just bigger then softballs and looking so pretty.... this morning..splat!:-5

They all seemed to crack open like an egg would and it is not pretty what the bugs had done since then!

Son of a gun, this was the littleones crop out there too:(

maybe I'd better head to the grocery store and by some stunt doubles:wah:

The was a farmer who raised watermelons. He was doing pretty well but he was disturbed by some local kids who would sneak into his watermelon patch at night and eat watermelons. After some careful thought he came up with a clever idea that he thought would scare the kids away for sure. So he made up the sign and posted it in the field. The next day the kids show up and they see this sign. It says, Warning, one of the watermelons in this field has been injected with cyanide. So the kids run off, make up their own sign and post it next to the sign that the farmer made. The farmer shows up the next week and when he looks over the field he notices that no watermelons are missing but he notices a new sign next to his. He drives up to the sign which reads, Now there are two:D

That is undoubtedly the least acceptable thread title in the history of ForumGarden and by golly we've had some ripe contenders in our time.

I'm pleased to say I've never tasted anything so low or unEnglish as a watermelon.

oh and i should clarify

your soil is too dry and drains too much . and your not keeping up enough water to them . Wtermelon IS water and they WANT lots of WATER . I drip system would give you huge watermelons.

But it rained here all week! That's why I wasn't out in my garden... it was too wet and skeeters were out!:-2

Umm i could give you some links if you'd like for more info . what's your soil content like? Is it sandy ? clayish? Dark, light? etc.?

i can give you tips for next years planting but it might be a bit late for the current crop.

My soil content is dirt... that's all i know about it..:o

I garden because I enjoy it, not because I have a clue....:wah:
