sudden LOVE for food i HATE

Post by shibee »

ok, this is really strange...

i must say that all my life, i have hated tomatoes...and when i say hate, i mean i hate!!! i hated them so much that i would pick them out of food, request that my food not be made with them etc. well, 2 days ago, we were having a lunch at work and very expensive food was catered to us. among the things that was brought was a salad and it was full of tomaoes. of course, i was one of the first to eat and it just so happened that one of the caterers is really good friends with my boss, so, as im eating my salad, they're at the lunch table talking. the whole time im wondering if i should pick the tomatoes out or should i just swish them around on my plate to make it seem like im eating them. i really didnt want to be rude because like i said the salad was full of them, and the caterer mentioned several times that alot of work and time was put into making this food. so i said what the heck, ill just hold me breath and eat it...

so, i ate it, and i don;t know if it was the dressing or what, but it was sooooo good! and i found myself eating just the tomatoes!!!

heres where it gets bad

i was so in love with tomatoes...that same day, i went to the grocery store and bought 4 tomatoes...4...and for dinner, i chopped up 2 and doused them in salt with a little caesar dressing. the next day, i ate the other 2. today i bought 8 and have already eaten 2...

i cant explain why (and no im not pregnant) ive acquired such a love for tomatoes!!! any ideas?

has this happened to anyone else?

Maybe you just found a food you love. :)

That happened to me with avocados. I never would have bothered with them except in guacamole but on a whim I tried one and I was hooked from then on. I buy 20 at a time and they maybe last a week. :wah:

You might like this thread shibee...Foods you used to Hate...

I can't say I'm a big tomato fan without them being cooked and used in sauces and spaghetti...

I did however used to hate spinach but now I love it and in fact I consider it to be my favorite vegetable...

Cherry tomatos are ace, in salads or roasted with a little balsamic vinegar :)

I always hated tomatoes. Hubby and I went to Greece on holiday about 18 years ago and we were served these huge beefsteak tomatoes that had been drizzled with olive oil, vinegar an salt and pepper and had feta cheese on the side.

I tried them and WOW they were gorgeous and iv'e loved them ever since in any variety.

Everyone's tastes are different. In fact, your tastes will change as you get older. When you were a baby, you had taste buds, not only on your tongue, but on the sides and roof of your mouth. This means you were very sensitive to different foods. As you grew, the taste buds began to disappear from the sides and roof of your mouth, leaving taste buds mostly on your tongue. As you get older, your taste buds will become even less sensitive, so you will be more likely to eat foods that you thought were too strong as a child. If you dont keep trying those foods out as your growing up, your missing out as one day you just might like it lol....Runs off to buy an advocado.....again!
