Charge Card - is it yours? Security Please !!!

Post by Patsy Warnick »

I was irritated, and embarrassed, and held for ransom.

I spent a great deal of time shopping, get up to the check out, time to pay.

I bring out the Department Stores Charge Card (Kohls). Gal says, could I see your ID, are you a signer on this card? What are you talking about, I've used this card for years here.

Manager is called - and the line behind me is growing. The card is Mr. Warnick, it's not your card. I explain - they delete the cash register - manager pulls me over to the side, security was called, my husband was called.

My husband had to call the number on the back of the card & add me as a authorized user. Are you kidding me - it was for our protection.

After authorized - I was released - went to the back of the line - merchandise was rung up - gal called office to double check I was authorized as a user.

Thank You for shopping at KOHL'S...

I get home - husbands laughing - I threw his present at him, told him to act surprised!!!!!

Fun Day

That sucks, but imagine if it had been Betty Fromberg using that card rather than Patsy Warnick. You'd have been singing their praises. I tend to get irritated when I make a major purchase and nobody checks my ID. I've even thanked clerks on occassion for making me pull out my driver's license.

BTW, did he like his present? :o

:yh_frustr That would tick me off to no end. But in the long run it is a great security measure I think.

The store had my ID & Card - everything except the Marriage License.

After the register was deleted, it was @ 20 minutes before I was out that door.

Husband - oh, look who I had to bail out.:wah:

we laughed, I never thought @ the card with his name - I have my own now, and I'm on probation.

If this present wasn't unique/cool - I wouldn't of gone thru the trouble & time.

Husband like it - who cares !! He loved it - it's a cool Golf putting green / pool game.

green floats on pool - you putt from outside of pool .

Yeh, now get outside & play. it's only 115 - brat

Some times credit cards are OK. :)

5 years ago I traveled to Florida, where I had a car deal set up to buy a specific used car from a specific dealer. The cashiers check was made out to myself & the dealership. Well, when I got there to pick up the car, it was not as advertised, and turned out to be a mechanical wreck!!! So needless to say the deal fell through, & fortunately for me, I was lucky enough to get my $1000 deposit refunded & in cash! However, I still needed a car. So I went to several other car dealerships, till I found the specific car I wanted. But now the check was made out to the other dealership. I had my $1000 cash in my hand, but needed thousands more to buy the car outright, which was what I wanted to do initially.

So finally now to the credit card part. I gave the dealership the $1000 in cash, & I "charged" the entire balance on my American Express card! It was a smooth transaction all the way through! I drove the car home that night, it was fantastic!!! ;)

(PS: I did have to show picture ID though!)

Don't have a credit card either but do have a debit card. When they run the transaction the cashier always asks credit or debit. If you say credit, they want to see you're ID but if you say debit, no ID is asked for.

Debit card require the user to put in their PIN number. I get asked to show my ID either way in most cases.

The only reason I used the charge card here - they offered additional 20 percent off using your card, so I did or I tried.

I've never had trouble using my husbands card at Kohl's before with picture ID.

I'm not upset with the store security policy - it is protection for everyone.

more embarrassed - then came the hot flash -then is he worth all this??:wah:

I've never used a debit card. I'm a cash person and I hate holding up a line of people - that's the worse part, people get impatient.
