Well I'm touched! :yh_blush
I wondered what it might be like to pull a Tom Sawyer. It's nice to see such kind comments, except for Bryn calling me a rock, of course. :-2
Truth is, my beloved & I are in beautiful tropical Okinawa for a couple of weeks. Her folks have no internet so I'll be offline probably until almost July. Pray for my sanity, God rest its soul. :p
I'm here for an hour or so, so I'd better be rollin'.
Hugs to everybody! :yh_hugs

Things turned a bit sour. We finally got access to a car and were making our rounds to visit family and friends. First trip was to visit the best cook in all of East Asia ... okay, imo ... Our aunt, then on to pay regards to the eldest uncle.
Just as we were finishing eating enough for four people (each) of the most delicious san-mai niku (bbq pork), tuna sashimi, giant shrimp tempura, Okinawan soba, and 3 different types of cooked fish, the phone rang.
The night before, Uncle's daughter got home late to find him dead on the floor. Apparently he tripped and struck his head. Details aside, he hadn't died immediately. Instead of visiting the laughing, happy-go-lucky 88 year old patriarch, everyone loaded up to go to the viewing.
Funerals happen fast in this culture. The ceremony was this morning, and the immediate family are accompanying the body to the crematorium now. I'm guessing that we will go to the family tomb tomorrow morning and give him a big sendoff. Lots of tears, food, and stories. Probably plenty of alcohol too.

I didn't say good-bye because I knew you weren't going away.
Sorry to hear about the death.

Well we made it back in one piece. The cat was beside herself, poor thing. Now I need a day or two to get over the jet lag & get back on local time. This new 'puter doesn't have a photo editor yet so I'll find one & post a couple of pics. :-6
