I hear there are some musicians here..... wondering if there are any songwriters! If so, and you're comfortable, how about sharing some of your stuff?

I like to just make up songs throughout the day, but I can`t annotate them musically and I often forget them!

next12win wrote: I hear there are some musicians here..... wondering if there are any songwriters! If so, and you're comfortable, how about sharing some of your stuff?I play guitar, 5-string banjo and string bass. I have Cakewalk (music program) on my home computer, and control a Yamaha keyboard with it. I play some Bluegrass, some Celtic, some Old Time fiddle songs, but mostly contemporary gospel music. I can't play keyboard, but write multi-track keyboard arrangements using Cakewalk. I have few original songs, do arrangements of hymns and spiritual songs, and sometimes perform them in church, playing guitar and singing live, with the accompanying tracks playing from a CD. I wouldn't mind sharing mp3 versions of my arrangements of others' songs.

All's we need is someone to tell us how to upload mp3's.

I'm prepared to lyric, if that helps. Do we have a prefered genre? Are we trying to be uplifting or miserable?

I prefer miserable, myself, but don't mind me.

I've posted the opening part of an acoustic guitar instrumental song I wrote - the quality had to be lowered because we are limited in file space size. Hope you all like it!!

I helped write the lyrics for this song.

Found Out About You

by Gin Blossoms

album: New Miserable Experience (1992),

**Dusted (1989)

All last summer, in case you don't recall,

I was yours and you were mine

Forget it all

Is there a line that I could write

That's sad enough to make you cry?

And all the lines you wrote to me were lies

Months roll past the love that you struck dead

Did you love me only in my head

There were things you said and did to me

They seem to come so easily

The love I thought I'd won

You give for free

Whispers at the bus stop

Well, I've heard about nights out in the school yard

I found out about you

I found out about you

Rumors follow everywhere you go

Like when you left and I was last to know

Well your famous now and there's no doubt

In all the places you hang out

They know your name and they know what you're about

Whispers at the bus stop

Well, I've heard about nights out in the school yard

I found out about you

I found out about you

Hey

Street lights blink on through the car window

I get the time to often on AM Radio

Well you know it's all I think about

I write your name drive past your house

Your boyfriend's over I watch your lights go out

Whispers at the bus stop

Well, I've heard about nights out in the school yard

I found out about you

I found out about you

Whispers at the bus stop

Well, I've heard about nights out in the shool yard

I found out about you

I found out about you

I found out about you

Excellent work! Did you do both lead and rhythm for that?

You wrote with the Gin Blossoms? Did you get writing credit?

Thank you all for the kind words! I'm glad to hear you like the piece. Unfortunately, we only have about 500kb of space for uploads, so I can't put the entire song on. I'll see if I can find a way to do it, but I don't know if it will render the song too compressed or not.

I'll post some more clips soon......

And yes, I do all the guitar parts on the song. :)

Nice guitar work! Nice chops and string tone, breezy feel. If you don't mind a little critique, I would have liked to hear more rhythm definition on the first one. You're a good player. Thank you for sharing!

Thx for the nice comments. In the first piece the rhythm is meant more as a 'coloring' support for a solo guitar, with pauses, rather than as a 'true' rythym. But no, I don't mind the critique. I'm glad you like my work, and I'm also happy to share it.! :)

Should I post some more samples? I don't want to "hog the thread" with my stuff if I do....... :wah:

I did a banjo arrangement to go with my friend's fingerpicking guitar on "I Know You, Rider" that goes into a fuzzy atonality at the end of each verse and resolves for the next verse. turbonium wrote: Should I post some more samples? I want to post some myself, but all I can do now is Real Player (Evidently I didn't buy the MP3 encoder when I bought Cakewalk).

Banjo player - very cool! You can download free wav to mp3 conversion programs on the net - this link has a page of free programs -

Here's a backup verse and chorus for a song I wrote called "This Is How We Know." Only the guitar is natural, the rest is all midi-electric keyboard, composed and remixed using Cakewalk.

Here's an intro and part of first verse of a song, not by me, but which I arranged and recorded on my computer called "I Will Leave." You'll get to hear me wiggle my uvula. Wasn't trying to sound like Val Doonican, but it just came out that way.

Yar's the ending to "I Will Leave This World Some Day." (Don't nobody get too happy over the title of this song.) I didn't write the song, but it's my arrangement, me singing and playing all the instruments, recorded at home on my computer. Sorry for the poor sound quality but to post here you have to cut the megabytes of your attachment, and at 488 MB the high end gets fizzy.

By the way, sometimes when I try to play an MP3 posted here, I crash. The first few notes play alright, but then it goes bonkers and starts repeating. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hey, tela - mine does that too, sometimes. That's because it starts to "auto-play" before it's fully downloaded the whole thing. It should be fine if you just stop it until it's done with the downloading, or just re-start it again.
