Do You Believe That Platonic Love Is Possible?

Post by jones jones »

This is the dictionary definition ...

"Platonic love in its modern popular sense is an affectionate relationship into which the sexual element does not enter, especially in cases where one might easily assume otherwise.

A simple example of platonic relationships is a deep, non-sexual friendship between two heterosexual people of the opposite sexes.

At the same time, this interpretation is a misunderstanding of the nature of the Platonic ideal of love, which from its origin was that of a chaste but passionate love, based not on uninterest but virtuous restraint of sexual desire."

For my part i must either be from another galaxy or i must be hypersexual because i do not believe that i could have "a deep non-sexual friendship with a member of the opposite sex ..."

could you?

I suppose it would work IF you were the kind that could buy a car but never drive it. Not for me.

I always had lots of male friends and I thought of most of them as brothers. So thinking about them in a sexual way would've been kinda....icky:o

I can't seem to get close to a man and not think of him in the sack. My mind just seems to go there even if I don't follow through with my body.

It's very possible

I have some very close male friends - some maybe infaturated with me.

Infaturated - carried away with unreasoning attraction..

A relationship with any of them - NO - Never

do they know that - yes - we enjoy eachothers company - get along great..

Been friends for years - will continue to be friends with them.

Just Friends

Isn't flirting a sexual element? I think the original question was to keep alllllll sexual elements out of the equation. I think that is very difficult.
