It is said that..
...a cure for toothache is to catch a frog, spit in its mouth and cast the frog away
...a boiled onion placed in a stocking will cure ear-ache
...sit on a hot cushion to cure diarrhoea
...for sciatica carry either a knuckle bone of a leg of mutton or a raw potato
...a stye can be cured by stroking 9 times with a wedding ring or a tom cat's tail (with his consent, presumably)
...to cure heartache sleep with the keys of the church door around your neck
Who knows? :-3

old remedies?
:yh_rotfl Don't think I'll be trying any of those remedies in a hurry!
old remedies?
When I was a kid my mother gave me a spoon ful of sugar and coal-oil or a spoonful of sugar and whiskey for the croup.
Once a neighbor kid cut his foot (going barefoot) and it was bleeding quite badly and mom washed it and put a silver dime on the wound and bandaged it. it healed in a few days. Hmmm, wonder if she got her dime back?
We lived in this house in the seventies and eightys and the neighbors told us the owner who built the house used to go to the woods in the fall and gather snakes and turn them loose in the attic to keep the mice and rats away. This was in the twenties. He was nuts I think. :-3

Remember the old 'onion on a beesting' and 'butter on a burn'?
