Actually those last shells were photobucket. But, I do find those shells on our beach at times. You have to be there at the right time and place.

One freezing winter in January and March I was walking along the beach and found hundreds of starfish and all sorts of moon shells. I spent days picking ups shells as no one was on the beach because it was soooooo cold...only doppy me.

The starfish were not alive, otherwise I would have put them back in the sea. So, I picked them up and dried them over a period of time. This event doesn't happen too often here. At times, there's a surge and everything on the bottom of the sea is pulled up to the beach and thrown on the sand. I was lucky enough to find these jewels and it's never happened again.

I had enought starfish to give to my whole 6th grade class and many, many left over. I made a great learning experience out of it for the kids.

I've also found sea horses and tiny, baby beautiful shells, but you have to be patient and look really, really hard to find them at times.

How interesting to hear how you find them and am sure your class really enjoyed having their own special starfish from their teacher! :-6

My wife would never come off the beach if she could find treasures like that. :wah: She's a crab anyway (sign of the zodiac) and loves playing in water. Our friends winter in Florida and they too, collect shells which they made things out of. It's a relaxing hobby and quite refreshing to be outdoors in the fresh air!

Thanks for sharing your story Kathy Ellen. I really appreciate it! ;)

The kids drain me, so I go to bed before 10 and am up early to look at the stars....I drive up to the beach in pj's and sweatshirt with my big mug of coffee and join the fishermen looking for stars, comets and space shuttles flying by. I sometimes bring my telescope to the beach in the early morning because no one is there and it's quiet....lovely:-6

I try to go to the beach early, early before the tourists wake so I can look for shells. Some days I find nothing and other days I find many treasures. It's better to find shells when no one is there.

It sounds like you found a wonderful place to roost. :-6 The main thing is that you enjoy every moment of it and it makes you happy. ;) You put in a long but joyful day, I would say. :)

I've got a half a headache, must be from the drastic change in weather, but I'm sure it'll pass. Suppose to see frost tonight, can you believe it?! :(

How are you doing this evening babe? :)

:wah::wah: Mustang, the day I brought all the starfish in for the kids, I also had two long buckets of sand. I filled the buckets with the starfish that I was going to give the kids for gifts, and they didn't know it. We had hermit crabs as our pets. The kids brought in their own hermit crabs, and we put all of them into the buckets for a " play date." It was a hilarious day and we laughed allllll day with the hermit crabs antics. We'll never forget that day. Sometime if I find the pics I'll post them...don't know where they are right now.

Ahhhhhh hello dear Hope:-4

Let us know if we can help in any way...we're here to listen and support.

Wow, a tobacco farm amazes me......do you have pics...this fascinates me. I don't smoke now...gave them up years ago but still adore the smell of a good ciggy.

Once in awhile I smoke a filter tipped sweet cigar, but don't inhale. It brings back fond memories. One day can you tell me all about your farm or show some pics. I would love that...

Have to go now.....thinking about you.....Feel better:-6

There not just words babe, that's how I and the rest of your cyber family really feel. :-4 Ya can't have daily contact with folks here and not attach to them. Everybody brings something good forward that we love about each other. Bonds are formed, and that can't be denied. ;)

I'm thankful you found your way to FG and became part of our group. What would this place be like without our lovely southern gal. :yh_hugs
