having lived in the states and having an american daughter i seem to been able to of found a way to get along with them just fine ,in fact some of my faves are from the states , its just they dont want to talk about the same stuff we do thats all , we have a tongue in cheek very smutty sense of humour which some americans find very distastefull , i cant tell you how many times my dirty double meaning jokes fell quicker than a lead balloon when i lived there , on the whole the americans are a nice people but english they are not , i mean how many of us brits take the time out to post on something an american has posted and taken the trouble to talk about things they are interested in like ..er ...er ... er .... er .... like how great america is :wah::wah: just joking but you get my drift Jim I have been on American threads here to add my two penneth and have just been totally ignored.....even when Ive asked a question.I ended up actually deleating the posts and found those people totally ignorant sorry.Anybody who come on this thread and as long as there not rude.........we welcome with open arms.Also I gotta say........I have always as Kay knows had lots of Oz friends that I have met online.....dunno why but we just seem to hit it off so well.Mind you gotta say also...........they dont all get on me bleedin nerves like the mad Oz bird does with her bleedin mowing and now we gotta listen to her rambling on about BB ffs:-5:-5:-5

Talking about Americans though, we are quite different in different regions of the country, those of us from down south are very friendly, haven't you ever heard the term southern hospitality!:wah:

but i know i have some family who went on a trip to New York, it was snowing, they were crossing the street and there was a woman struggling to get a baby carriage up onto the curb, one of my relatives being the southern gentleman that he is lifted up the front of the carriage to help her get it onto the sidewalk. she looked at him like he might have been an alien! it was just so unusual to her i guess that i think she was wondering it he was up to something!

they also went to Boston last year, they were riding one of those trolly cars or whatever you call them and a little old lady got on and fell flat in the floor! the regulars on the car didn't budge a inch, it was as if nothing had happened!

this same relative of mine still being the southern gentleman that he always is, picked the woman up off the floor and made sure she was alright! It looked like if they hadn't been there the poor lady would still be laying there!:-5

Gotta say also Hope that theres parts of England where people are more friendly.EastEnders are known for their hospitality and humour (me:D) but also theres many people from up North that has this also as this thread shows.At the end of the day............you are what you are;)

yeah, i expect it's that way in every country. and i agree, we are what we are and people should except us for what we are and not make judgements lets say just because we are American or just because we are from somewhere else. i'm ready to listen to anybody and i think it's aweful if somebody ignores you on a thread, and if i've ever ignored anybody it was completely unintentional!:-6

It's like here though, you're not going to get a lot of help in Melbourne but go out off the track a bit and people will fall over you to help you . And then you have to stand there and hear about what their grandfather did in this paticular circumstance and then you have to have a beer with them and hear about the other side of the family and then have another beer. and .....................you get the picture.:wah:

yeah i think it's something about living in a big city. out here in the sticks where i live people will fall over themselves trying to help you, which is great and i'm ready to help anybody that needs it as well. but like you said some folks really like to talk and you have trouble getting away from them!:wah::wah:

Well coming from the East End......having a really colourful life.........then here was a shock to the system I can tell yer.I live in the country and fell in love with the fact that at the end of my garden was just fields..........but have to admit I used to have to keep going back to London to "recharge" my batteries.Now I wouldnt go back there to live ...........no way.........but tell you the TRUE Essex people are so different from us Cockneys who have invaded their county;)
