Missing Friend Found-But Not Here in the Garden

Post by qsducks »

Hello, we have managed to track down a member from here, but are having reservations regarding sending them a letter in the mail. And only because we would have to post our real address in the return part of the envelope. We have both known this member from a previous forum and then said friend dropped into nowhere along with their email address, etc. We would love to get back in touch with friend, but what would anybody here advise? The only thing I can come up with is posting a fake address on the envelope along with the fake name of course.

What about sending them an email? Do you have the email address?

Both of the email addresses have been shut down :-1 When you try to email, it comes right back at you "address unknown, not able to deliver".

The friend would know by our previous screen names. And no, friend does not know our real names/address, etc.

Sounds to me like the friend has cut all ties. It was his choice and for whatever reason there probably isn't anything to do. I suspect he knows you want to get in touch with him. Most people who leave message boards come back in and lurk to see what is being said about them. I think you will have to just sit back and see if he makes contact.

I'm so glad that people find this funny as I do not. I have his REAL name, address, and phone number along with (2) email addresses. I could see poking fun if this was a person we just met, this is a person we have known for over a year now and he is now MIA. I know in my heart he wouldn't do this unless he was unable to communicate with us. Some things are funny and some things are not :-5. Sorry to sound harsh but I am afraid for our friend :-1

Is the same thing as if I were to call you at 610-555-5555? Ok, I know it probably sounds dumb on my part, but I've never called anybody out of this country.

Sounds like hes having trouble of some sorts, maybe internet probs, but they dont usually bounce back unless they have cancelled the account.

Maybe their just having some time off, I know you say its out of character but hey we all act out of character now and again. Other than that, if you dont wanna call, why not just send a card saying thinking of you so they know you are worried or a text message...You could put a po box number on for a return mail.

I'm sure it is the same as when I call the UK, you need the country code, and may need to drop one of the first digits on the area code. Hang on, I will look for you.

Step 1:

Figure out what time it is in the region you are calling. Perth, in Western Australia, is 13 hours ahead of United States Eastern Standard Time (EST) - 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. Central Australia is 14 hours ahead of EST (9 hours ahead of GMT), and Eastern Australia, such as Brisbane, is 15 hours ahead of EST (10 hours ahead of GMT).

Step 2:

Dial 011, the international access code.

Step 3:

Dial 61, the Australian country code.

Step 4:

Dial the city code, followed by the personal phone number. Some codes for cities in Australia include 3 for Melbourne, 9 for Perth, 7 for Brisbane and 2 for Sydney.

how will you know they got the card?

IDK, it's a little confusing to me. You know you want to trust somebody, but your really not sure, you know what I mean? After all, it's this person is a cyber friend, just don't know. But anyway, a phone call would probably be a safer bet. Also, thank you Pheasy & Chezzie.

As I have posted before, leave well enough alone. He knows how to contact us and let him do that. He has been a friend of mine for a very long time but sometimes, you need to let go. :-1

People don't get rid of me that easily - I would call.

Seriously though ... call him .... if you care about him that much ... what's the worst that can happen :-6

Ekkkk that a new slant....I dont think you should ring if you wernt given the number to be honest, you dont know the persons situation and you may cause them some problems. Best the person who got the number off him rings...Hell you could always pretend to be a saleswoman so you can at least find out their still alive and well...

You wouldn't have to put a fake address on the letter. It's simple really, just give them your email address. They can reply to that if they want to.

He did not give me his number. I looked it up on the internet. I cannot call even if I wanted to due to the time difference. He has all of our emails addresses if he wants to contact us. Like I said before, I'm just going to wait this one out right now. I would like to thank everyone for their concern.
