Roofing Problem - how should this be handled ??

Post by Patsy Warnick »

Well - guess what ?? We hit a snag...

Drywall guy was worked SUNDAY 8:00 a.m. and started on the Family Room.

Family Room is all wrapped up in plastic - another worker is painting the Patio.

I have no where to go - so out front I go & putts around.

I come back in & check on the progress

Drywall guy is Painting my CEILING and WINDOW SILLS - STOP the PRESSES !!

Drywall guy says drywall is good, he's a expert - back & forth - I blew ...

I took a tool and smashed a hole in the ceiling - told Drywall guy to cut a large hole right there.

I climb up - reach in and the insulation is wet - I grab the insulation on my way down and all hell broke loose ..

Drywall guy & workers packed up & walked off the job Sunday @ 1:45 p.m....

Haven't heard from anyone - Tuesday 7:00 a.m., I placed a stern message to Rooferman's Office. I receive a call 10:00 a.m..

We have a meeting today at 4:00 p.m.

I don't see the point in a meeting - I know Rooferman tried to pull a fast fix here, probably something as they'll never know - she's not bright.. - When is Rooferman going to realize I'm a step ahead of him.?? idiot

it's his license..??

Nothing but FUN here

OMG, I'd be threatening to sue them. Somebody really messed up your roof, happened to my sister. She finally just got another roofer (one of my friends), no leaks since 2001.

Guess what? I have such a headache..!!

I just received a phone call 9:35 P.M. 3/6/08, from Drywall guy - to Re-SCHEDULE ME for Monday & Tuesday .!!

The meeting - Rooferman was so very surprised I had been taking pictures - I had a picture of the wet Mud on my ceiling - he patched & painted all the water tracks !!! It was a fluke I had that picture - so, our meeting was - I held the Camera in one hand - and a pencil in the other maping out the ceiling ....:wah:

Loved it.... I told Rooferman - you'll be glad to get rid of me, chuckle chuckle ....!!

Complete new ceiling scheduled for Friday 3-7.

I called Rooferman at 10:15 P.M. message

I had received a phone call to be rescheduled for Mon. & Tues.

One would of thought I'd be a priority

Apparently you don't want to get rid of me ?

I guess we're bonding

I don't appreciate this

Patsy

I finally tore all the plastic down - the paint was still wet from Sunday's work ??

Any suggestions - How patient am I suppose to be here ??

You have to admit this has been a good story.. & it'll all work out..

You're right, this is great fun from this side of things. :D

I wouldn't recommend being patient. You've given plenty. Check with your advisors, but I'd recommend reeling him in -- shorten his leash.

Kathy

My Roof is on - whether it'll leak or not ? We get very little rain in Arizona.??

When I get time (soon) I'll run a hose for 1/2 hour on the area of leaks.

My Patio looks wonderful - tomorrow my ceiling is to be replaced..?

Most of my furniture has been in the garage & extra bedrooms for over 2 weeks

I'm a collector of stuff - and it's uniquely displayed - I've had to dismantle my walls.

Now that everythings down - I'll have to paint. I'll also need to get the outside of the house painted & the Mister System reattached and move all the Patio Furniture back, and either put the gutters back up or take the other gutters off the house.??

This headache has now snowballed into alot work

I HAVE FAMILY ARRIVING IN 3 weeks and staying for 2 weeks..

Sound like fun yet.

I hope my Family enjoys PAINTING

Keep your fingers crossed on the ceiling project.

GUESS WHAT ????

They're still working ....

Worker's were suppose to finish my ceiling Saturday - NO SHOW - NO CALL..

Sunday morning @ 6:50 A.M. - Roofer Co. calls to work today..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My response went something like this:

Who is this? - You don't Fu - - - - - call me @ 6:00 in the morning

I'll call you when I wake up - Its Tuesday I haven't woke up yet....

My Father in-law died Monday and after the Funeral Thursday, I'll have @ 30 to 40 people here to see my beautiful disaster....

It'll all work out - most will be outside around my new Patio.

Saturday we're moving my Mother in-law into her smaller apartment - no she didn't want to wait or reschedule the move....!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going nuts....!!!!!!!

When it rains - it pours

Well, I called Rooferman - stated since he's the responsible party and is never on the job site - MY WORK IS NOT DONE & NOW I'M PISSED OFF, Thank you.

Now that I'm in a good mood - we won't be moving furniture - we won't be the ones painting inside or outside .

Now I will inspect - and they'll move furniture - they'll finish my ceiling - they'll paint inside.

My Patio will be inspected - painted again - gutters installed - mister system installed and anything else I can find before I sign off on this job. Now everythings going to have to be perfect..

I will file a complaint to the State - BBB - etc...

There should be something legally I could do for this inconvenience

You know I was being nice - serving Pepsi to the workers - giving grapefruit away, I was very flexible with my time etc.

NOT NOW

Any Suggestions??

Thanks Patsy

This was filed with the Registar of Contractors - State Licensing Dept.

Oh, of course I'm calling the State Rep. I'm so fed up -

I'm talking LAW SUIT - for inconvenience - stress - sickeness for the sore throat I've had since the 12th.

I figured if you can sue over hot coffee ??

No more nice Patsy

GUESS WHAT ??

JOB DONE

This is not a April Fools Joke - DONE

I can't believe it - DONE

I have some paint touch up to do

The Misting system is up - we'll arrange it properly later

all work done.

Nomad - I called the State Rep . - I'd always get to the bottom line and asked "What would you do"? and he told me what to do - I wined - cried - shook the tree. I called Rooferman & left a message as I just spoke to the State Rep & I plan to reopen this claim, I'm fed up..

I had workers the next day - calls from Rooferman to confirm appt. times. We're so glad to have this headache over with.

Are things perfect - NO - better than before - YES

Happy with results - YES

And I will now move on - get the outside of the house painted and go on VACATION......!!!!!!

I will now contact every agency to file a complaint - hiring illegals - BBB - final State Letter - and anything else I can think of..

My sister arrives in 8 days from Seattle - I hope to get most furniture moved back in and all the wall crap decorations - later..

I'm exhausted

I will miss all the men in my house....:-2

Thanks everyone for the advise & Tolerating me

What a experience.. - ever need advise /insight - write me

THANKS PATSY

I found a service online that prescreens contractors. When I called them about the job I wanted done, this FREE service calls me up, discusses the job with me and then sets appts for me with contractors they have prescreened and approved. Gives me a bit more comfort knowing that.

One can only hope you dont live in Arizona.

Jab

I would think this service (prescreen) would be a extra charge in the final total.?

I would still check the BBB on any Company your dealing with.

Make sure this CO. license & Bonded etc.. Do your own checking no matter what...

Then the Contractor passes that cost onto you.?

How many estimates have you gotten ?

Get referals from your Co. of choice.

We thought we had everything covered/checked out.

This has been a nightmare.
