A Nice Jew Celebrates Easter

Post by cherandbuster »

Hi Gang :)

I'm happy to say that, while being Jewish, I still get to celebrate all the great Christian holidays! We've got some mixed marriages in my family, so I get to have fun on Easter Sunday with the rest of you :guitarist

Believe me: Passover is NOWHERE near as fun as Easter is :p

Hi Honey :-6

It's still chilly here in New England -- we're still doin' our cooking indoors!

We are having an Easter brunch at hubby's sister's house -- about an hour away from us. It's kind of nice for a change; we usually do big dinners so this is great.

It'll be scrambled eggs, hash browns, waffles, quiche, bagels, muffins and my Cream Cheese Squares (which were a big hit at my dinner party last weekend).

"Course they'll be some good chocolate going on as well :guitarist

Oh, that does sound like a nice time. What are cream cheese squares? I'm trying to find something to bring to an Easter brunch on Sunday and can't find diddly.

QSD :)

These are incredibly easy to make; I discovered them at AllRecipes.com.

Would you like the recipe? I think you'll be a big hit if you bring 'em! :guitarist

Well here it is, whether you want it or not!!

Cream Cheese Squares
Cook Time: 30 Minutes Ready In: 45 Minutes

Yields: 24 servings

INGREDIENTS:

2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese

1 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.

2. Press one can of the crescent rolls into the bottom of the prepared pan. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread over the crescent layer. Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay them on top of the cream cheese layer. Do not press down. Pour the melted margarine over the entire pan. Combine the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.

3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is crisp and golden.

Same here nothing beats good food and a happy family. Of course if the food is 'really' good then sharing is out of the question, especially if it's chocolate, no matter how much I may love you! :D

I thought it was compulsory for Jewish Mums to make chicken soup on every conceivable occasion... ;)

Easter is nowhere near as fun as Easter is.:wah: We're so far away from the original intent either the churches or the retailers need to change a name. It'll still be just as fun.

Ah Yes, Christmas, it used to be, that I would seem to gain weight between Christmas & New Years Eve. Now that I'm older, it seems that I put on weight between New Years Eve & Christmas! :wah::p:D
